5.9 Magnitude Quake Rocks Washington D.C. Region

I felt it in NEPA I THOUGHT something was wrong with me....because the house
swayed side to side .... I didn't know what to think incredible never felt it in my life.

I'm in the mountains of north carolina. It woke me up. I thought it was someone walking on my porch aggressively which shakes my house. IT WOKE ME UP!!!!!! IN NC!!!

Can't help but think this is distracting everyone from whats going on in libyia. Paranoid.

Was reading the comments, and I too had a bad headache all day. Last night I felt really sick. Also, my pets have been acting strange for the past week. Wonder if they knew it was coming?

Keep in mind, this quake was 1,000 times weaker than the 9.0 that hit Japan.

Puts things in perspective a bit.

It also appears to be a very shallow quake, which is unusual.

My house was shaking here in NE/Central Pennsylvania at approximately 1:55 PM! My daughter lives a few blocks away and reports the same. Many calls have gone in to our local newspaper. An earthquake was reported in DC early this morning, then this 6.0 one at approximately 1:51 PM: (it now says 5.9--said 6.0 earlier)

If a 5.9 can cause that kind of effect on the east coast bedrock....

What would a 7.0 or higher do?

I would just like to add that my friend who works up near Duluth, Georgia said her building was shaking for about 20 seconds. She thought there had been an explosion until she found out that there was an earthquake.

This whole thing is a bit surreal...

Southern Illinois here...nothing..but i am terrified of new madrid shaking! We are right in between the two and now I will be thinking about it for the next couple days!

......CNN just said its unlikely, most dangerous next few hours, but we all know they are disinformants. Did not get the name on the lady who was interviewed.

This is what worries me lots of my friends are in Delaware, PA, DC, and NJ, please stay safe be very prepared for the next few hours!!!
Also if the White house was to beleive CNN why are they clearing it out?

Im right out side of Philly, And I heared what I thought was a Semi Turck driving past then some shake than calm then shake. At first I thought the shake was from the big truck, but now I am thinking maybe there was not truck.. I didnt see one but I wasnt actually looking for one either.


Also, I have had a headache and an upset stomach since last night. idk if theres any relation.

"Rocks" may be an overstatement here.

I bet 30 Stars or Flags the big one is still to come for the area, that was just the teaser quake! Any takers, I will star your posts... 30 Stars if there isn't a larger more powerful quake in the next 2weeks in the DC area.

Fredericton New Brunswick Canada and we felt nothing .....Its a very quiet place ,except for those darn crows ...5 am and on and on it goes ...be safe everyone ...peace
