Hey folks, I came across a interesting thing about shadows. Maybe it will give you something to ponder.

Snippet:

Plato realizes that the general run of humankind can think, and speak, etc., without (so far as they acknowledge) any awareness of his realm of Forms.

The allegory of the cave is supposed to explain this.

In the allegory, Plato likens people untutored in the Theory of Forms to prisoners chained in a cave, unable to turn their heads. All they can see is the wall of the cave. Behind them burns a fire. Between the fire and the prisoners there is a parapet, along which puppeteers can walk. The puppeteers, who are behind the prisoners, hold up puppets that cast shadows on the wall of the cave. The prisoners are unable to see these puppets, the real objects, that pass behind them. What the prisoners see and hear are shadows and echoes cast by objects that they do not see.

THAT is beyond brilliant! AND it might also explain why I dreamt of Natalie Portman as a boy. Phew! Thanks, Dr Sheb!

That is nice (indeed) poetry. It doesn't come from anything nearly as close to logic. Ever.
That's the difference between apocrypha and fact.

Agreed. Shakespeare (whomever he was) was definitely in the "divine flow." But it intrigues me that so many scholars have analyzed that particular poem and none of them actually get it.

SilentWalker, regarding your post on the record: I disagree with you about Schroedinger. Have you read this book? Highly recommend:

Hmm No, I haven't read that book.
And it's still cool you disagree too. However, at some point, if one wants to dive into that 'paradox' one may as well end up telling any jaw-dropping nonsense, or… all the same, sell ice to Eskimos, for the best of causes, of course.

Points of view are all interesting anyway.

Can anyone tell me what < h5> means (in the page source that is) in terms of html programing?
edit on 28-9-2011 by Fraam because: (no reason given)

Nevermind, I found it, it's a header tag. Hmmm. But why < h5> right before .[....]. There only < h1> before that.

I found it in the mean time. Hmmm. But why < h5> right before .[....]. There only < h1> before that. And header 5 it's not closed.
