If you're one of the ones complaining that this country has been run into the ground, you probably are. If you wish to see this country return to prominence, you probably are. If you believe Obama is a evil Socialist bent on destroying "this Country" you probably are.

If you are guilty of any the above, you are behind the eight ball! The world has passed you by and you're not even aware.

There isn't any "returning America to glory", to even suggest this means you endorse the suffering of other countries and their citizens. That is the reason America was ever prominent to begin with. We had an headstart on the other nations, and were allowed to oppress them for their natural resources and labor. We basically bullied everyone into being our servants and concubines.

The rest of the world has caught up with us now...rather they are closer too us now. They are no longer content with being our servants and living in slums while we enjoy a "middle class".

Blame Obama ALL YOU WISH, but deep down, if you have a brain, you should know that the writing was on the wall a LONG time ago! America died when the economy became global. I'll say it again and in bigger writing:

AMERICA DIED WHEN THE ECONOMY BECAME GLOBAL!!!!!!!!!!

The simple blame is Capitalism which many of you crucify Obama as wanting to destroy. Our precious capitalism has destroyed us! In the name of capitalism, if you can get something for cheaper but just as good somewhere else, that's exactly what you do. Production needs can be met by employees in other countries for a cheaper price than what we can offer in America. There you go folks....that's what has happened to your American dream. There is where our middle class has gone.

Until we are willing to work for $1 an hour with benefits OR...we get the workers in these Third World countries to demand $30 per hour wage, America will never be the same. Country destroyed without a single shot fired!

Our workforce CAN NOT compete with the workforce of these Third World countries. They will work longer and harder than us for what we would consider peanuts! So you can yell about tax breaks and minimum wage ALL you want, those are but drops in a bucket. These companies are maximizing profits by having a unbelievable low payroll.

Ladies and gentleman Obama did not do this, not even Bush did this. It happened under Clintons watch but not even he is to blame for this. The blame for this falls upon EVOLUTION. Our planet is evolving beyond single cell organisms (countries) into a complex being (global).

You nail the to the wood very fair and square, but most Americans can not even remember what they eat yesterday they will never remember what history has to tell us.

You are right Globalization and free trade killed America while both of them has been around for as long as is been trade in human history Clinton made it officially part of the US and the rest of the world with laws to regulate Free trade that now is working against the US economy while making a few filthy rich.

I applaud you for having the courage to post the truth on ATS, especially political truth. It is timed that many opened their eyes to this reality. We adapt, or we perish. That has always been the rule of the world, and always will be the rule of the world. We need to take a serious look at our economic systems, our market practices, and our social ideology and consider what will actually be sustainable for the changing future.

Thanks OP, you provided truth on this day, and it is highly appreciated.

In the original days of the United States of America,a company was not allowed a "charter",or to become a corporation, unless they could explain how it would serve the public good. This was changed sometime after the turn of the last century, and our present situation began to take shape. The reason that the corporate charter laws were changed is because the original system became CORRUPT.It doesnt matter what you call your form of government,or how you structure your economy, someone will figure out how to game the system.
Humans are meant to live in tribes.Every other system has led to ruin sooner or later. You cant game the system if their is no system.

S+F for you. This is THE answer and if anyone claims differently, then you're right. They're part of the reason why America has problems. This actually opened my eyes a LOT and I hope it gets tons of replies, flags and you get the stars you deserve for posting this truth.

Indeed, it all comes down to workers in other countries. To them a dollar an hour is a fortune. They're content to make that much. Asking for 30/hr wouldn't cross their minds. It'd be the same as me asking my boss in a fast food chain to give me 45/hr to ring up orders at the register. You just laugh and take the min wage they give you.

It's a sad sad shape we're in. Sad.

I've said for years that the only reason that Governments are useful is that they defend your terrirtory from other Governments.

The things is that while we have a global economy, do w really need it? No, I'm not talking about refusing charity to people around the world, but do we need to have China making far more furniture than we do, for our own population? This is where the argument diverges for everyone. As soon as a political figure chooses a side of that argument, they get blamed.

not only were our jerbs sent overseas, our being a customer base was exported as well. example: i've seen photo-images taken in third world locales that not long ago held almost no opportunity that now has children consuming tobacco products. they are not just enjoying a smoke break, they are flaunting new-found wealth with a useless consumable that represents a level of status. at the same time smokers were made into social pariahs in America. it wasn't enough that bars & restaurants installed costly air purification units and smokers were sectioned away from non-smokers. now many employers have banned smoking on their property, adults can't light up in a bar or restaurant and a pack costs $10.00 in NY state.

that's one little example of how we've been replaced.

all our millions of usa consumers making corporations wealthy beyond belief was not enough. bringing old products into new markets is Marketing 101. reap and sow elsewhere, employ and exploit.

as difficult as it has become to find consumer goods marked Made in USA over the past 25-30 years people should already have a clue.

I think you've hit the nail on the head here OP. A fantastic observation. I agree with you to a great extent, but can't give a free pass to the politico corporate puppetry that runs this country.

I know it isn't Obama's fault alone, and as much as I dislike the Bushs' the blame cannot be solely theirs.

We have allowed our country to be pilfered. You cannot deny that our "wealth" has gone to everybody but us.

It begins in Public Schooling. The absolute suppression of Imagination and Creativity in Americas' children is a huge contributing factor. They are being programmed to learn without questioning what has been presented to them.

I have no "proof" of this. I just know myself. When I see a wound on a person or animal, my imagination immediately sends tingling pains to my body in the area in which I see the wound. It affects me so much that I no longer hunt. I find it very difficult to even administer a "mercy killing". My imagination is the source of my empathy.

So if you suppress the imagination of the children, you suppress their ability to empathise, effectively propagating a sociopathic attribute to them that will propel them forward in the Corporate world. We see the soulless individuals behind their dark glasses in suits with perfect hair and think, wow how successful he must be.

Children have to be given a choice in this.

Sorry for going sideways there. The OP just made me think too much.

Indeed!

No matter WHO we elect as President, Clinton, Bush, Obama or even Paul...there isn't anything any of them can do. The sooner we ALL realize this, the better.

The only thing that could once again elevate this country is IF we were to come up with some new innovation or technology, AND kept it's patent American. Everything that has made America wonderful has been sold to other countries.

We no longer PRODUCE anything except security and law enforcement.

No our political leaders can not be excused, even though there's nothing any of them could do about it. The blame falls upon us, the citizens. We slept too long and became too fat and satisfied. We became too infatuated with entertainment instead of knowledge.

As a result, you're right, our education system is useless. Where is the innovation or the pursuit of innovation being taught? As far as I can see it isn't. What we have are worker drones being produced.

Our politicians have sold us out to the banking elite. This country, this world, is run by MONEY!

I'm not saying we should drop capitalism and try communism, what I'm suggesting is we should be looking for the NEXT economic system which one-ups capitalism.
