Does he believe that Libya and Syria governments have not being butchering and murdering their own people???

Really?? Thats a pretty big claim. I don't agree with his views and I guess this is why he might be worried for his safety.

It seems to me you miss the point - why should holding such views endanger his safety? It is totally outrageous that we should accept this as normal or in any way justified.

Moreover, his opinions, though lacking credibility to you, are supported by evidence released by both Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.... neither of which found evidence, during their 3 minths in Libya, to support the claims made by the greedy, murderous Western govermnments.

Libya War Lies Worse Than Iraq

By Thomas C. Mountain

July 23, 2011 "Information Clearing House" --- Asmara, Eritrea: The lies used to justify the NATO war against Libya have surpassed those created to justify the invasion of Iraq. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch both had honest observers on the ground for months following the rebellion in eastern Libya and both have repudiated every major charge used to justify the NATO war on Libya.

According to the Amnesty observer, who is fluent in Arabic, there is not one confirmed instance of rape by the pro-Gadaffi fighters, not even a doctor who knew of one. All the Viagra mass rape stories were fabrications.

Amnesty could not verify a single “African mercenary” fighting for Gaddafi story, and the highly charged international satellite television accounts of African mercenaries raping women that were used to panic much of the eastern Libyan population into fleeing their homes were fabrications.

There were no confirmed accounts of helicopter gun ships attacking civilians and no jet fighters bombing people which completely invalidates any justification for the No-Fly Zone inSecurity Council resolution used as an excuse for NATO to launch its attacks on Libya.

After three months on the ground in rebel controlled territory, the Amnesty investigator could only confirm 110 deaths in Benghazi which included Gadaffi supporters.

Only 110 dead in Benghazi? Wait a minute, we were told thousands had died there, ten thousand even. No, only 110 lost their lives including pro-government people.

No rapes, no African mercenaries, no helicopter gun ships or bombers, and only 110 ten deaths prior to the launch of the NATO bombing campaign, every reason was based on a lie.

Today according to the Libyan Red Crescent Society, over 1,100 civilians have been killed by NATO bombs including over 400 women and children. Over 6,000 Libyan civilians have been injured or wounded by the bombing, many very seriously.

Compared to the war on Iraq, these numbers are tiny, but the reasons for the Libyan war have no merit in any form.

Saddam Hussein was evil, he invaded his neighbors in wars that killed up to a million. He used Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD’s) in the form of poison gas on both his neighbors and his own people, killing tens of thousands. He was brutal and corrupt and when American tanks rolled into Iraq the Iraqi people refused to fight for him, simply put their weapons down and went home.

Libya under Col. Gadaffi hasn’t invaded their neighbors. Gadaffi never used WMD’s on anyone, let alone his own people. As for Gadaffi being brutal, in Libya’s neighbor Algeria, the Algerian military fought a counterinsurgency for a decade in the 1990’s that witnessed the deaths of some 200,000 Algerians. Now that is brutal and nothing anywhere near this has happened in Libya.

In Egypt and Tunisia, western puppets like Mubarak and Ben Ali had almost no support amongst their people with few if anyone willing to fight and die to defend them.

The majority of the Libyan people are rallying behind the Libyan government and “the leader”, Muammar Gadaffi, with over one million people demonstrating in support on July 1 in Tripoli, the capital of Libya. Thousands of Libyan youth are on the front lines fighting the rebels and despite thousands of NATO air strikes authentic journalists on the ground in western Libya report their morale remains high.

In Egypt the popular explosion that resulted in the Army seizing power from Mubarak began in the very poorest neighborhoods in Cairo and other Egyptian cities where the price of basic food items like bread, sugar and cooking oil had skyrocketed and lead to widespread hunger. In many parts of Egypt's poor neighborhoods gasoline/benzene is easier to find then clean drinking water. Medical care and education is only for those with the money to pay for it. Life for the people of Tunisia is not that much better.

In contrast, the Libyan people have the longest life expectancy in the Arab world. The Libyan people have the best, free public health system in the Arab world. The Libyan people have the best, free public education system in the Arab world. Most Libyan families own their own home and most Libyan families own their own automobile. Libya is so much better off then its neighbors every year tens of thousands of Egyptians and Tunisians migrated to Libya to earn money to feed their families, doing the dirty work the Libyan people refused to do.

When it comes to how Gadaffi oversaw a dramatic rise in the standard of living for the Libyan people despite decades of UN inSecurity Council sanctions against the Libyan economy honest observers acknowledge that Gadaffi stands head and shoulders above the kings, sheiks, emirs and various dictators who rule the rest of the Arab world.

So why did NATO launch this war against Libya?

First of all Gadaffi was on the verge of creating a new banking system in Africa that was going to put the IMF, World Bank and assorted other western banksters out of business in Africa. No more predatory western loans used to cripple African economies, instead a $42 billion dollar African Investment Bank would be supplying major loans at little or even zero interest rates.

LIbya has funded major infrastructure projects across Africa that have begun to link up African economies and break the perpetual dependency on the western countries for imports have been taking place. Here in Eritrea the new road connecting Eritrea and Sudan is just one small example.

What seem to have finally tipped the balance in favor of direct western military intervention was the reported demand by Gadaffi that the USA oil companies who have long been major players in the Libyan petroleum industry were going to have to compensate Libya to the tune of tens of billions of dollars for the damage done to the Libyan economy by the USA instigated “Lockerbie Bombing” sanctions imposed by the UN inSecurity Council throughout the 1990’s into early 2000’s. This is based on the unearthing of evidence that the CIA paid millions of dollars to witnesses in the Lockerbie Bombing trial to change their stories to implicate Libya which was used as the basis for the very damaging UN sanctions against Libya. The government of the USA lied and damaged Libya so the USA oil companies were going to have to pay up to cover the cost of their governments actions. Not hard to see why Gadaffi had to go isn't it?

Add the fact that Gadaffi had signaled clearly that he saw both Libya’s and Africa’s future economic development linked more to China and Russia rather than the west and it was just a matter of time before the CIA’s contingency plan to overthrow the Libyan government was put on the front burner.

NATO’s war against Libya has much more in common with NATO’s Kosovo war against Serbia. But one still cannot compare Gadaffi to Saddam or even the much smaller time criminals in the Serbian leadership. The Libyan War lies are worse than Iraq.

Sounds like someone was trying to propagandize the situation involving foreign journalists trapped in a hotel by Gaddafi's forces into blaming it on the advancing rebels.

Libya News: Journalists "trapped" inside Rixos hotel

"They are not allowed to leave the hotel because there are [Muammar] Gaddafi men in the area and around the area," Al Jazeera's correspondent Zeina Khodr reportedly said from Green Square.

"We have been in contact with some of them, and they are telling us basically they were held there almost as human shields."

The Libyan government has insisted foreign journalists stay at the Rixos hotel while reporting on the conflict.

"Over the months it became a government hangout. A place of refuge and safety for them where Col Gaddafi's information minister held regular news conferences," recalled BBC correspondent in Tripoli Matthew Price.

According to the BBC and CNN, journalists are being held there by Gaddafi's forces, it's one of the last pro-Gaddafi holdouts remaining in Tripoli.

Libya conflict: Fighting rages near Gaddafi compound

The Rixos is the place where the government has obliged foreign journalists to stay when reporting on this conflict.

Over the months it became a government hangout. A place of refuge and safety for them where Col Gaddafi's information minister held regular news conferences.

Its very simple. The guy came on here making an appeal to help get jounalists out of Libya. I thought this was odd. There was no explanation as to why they needed out.

There is some strange 'rumour' been published that american jounalists have called for these men to be killed. I find this very hard to believe. But then again if people think they are going to be killed they will say whatever they have to , to escape.

I had no idea who these journalists where or why they needed to escape. We were told nothing about them. I did a search and found out why they needed to make this appeal. They were saying that the media was lying about the crimes the Sryria and Libya governments were accused of.

I found the intial story strange and that is why I asked questions.

If you want to quote big articles about how we are being told lies about what is happening in Libya and Sryia, off you go. I have no interest. That is not why I contributed to this thread
.
I know that I have seen the ordinary people of Libya and more so Syria willing to die to remove the dictators ruling their countries. That is what I see.

Well, JS, I was actually replying to your comment:

The article I posted actually supports a view that the media and our governments may well be telling blatant lies about the situation in Libya and Syria in order to justify their murderous actions.

If you believe that's too far fetched, you must have a short memory re the war in Iraq.

Are these governments capable of lying in order to justify a war? History's reply is - yes, again and again.

I also challenged your view that somehow if the journalists have been suggesting the governments lied, it was kind of normal for them to be in fear of their lives. In my opinion that is neither normal nor acceptable, in fact it is more criminal action on the part of the government.

It seems you are swallowing the OS about Libya and now Syria. When a group of tyrants have proven themselves to be liars again and again, I tend to look for the lies in what they say and I certainly don't unquestioningly accept the official 'line' on anything.

It's clear that those currently in power regard speaking the truth as an act of terrorism, by their own statements and actions.

Currently, there are two US citizens involed in charging Cheney with authorising their torture precisely because they did what was right, told the truth and reported corruption.

I'm sorry you don't like long articles - we do tend to live in a soundbite world.

Here's another reference to an article with a quote from it, regarding the two US citizens who allege they were tortured for telling the truth.

According to court documents, both Vance and Ertel were employees of the private U.S. government contractor Shield Group Security at the time of their arrest, stationed just outside the so-called safe or ‘Green’ Zone in Bagdad.

In 2005 and 2006, Vance and Ertel became increasingly aware of corruption within Shield Group Security, noting, among other suspicious activity, that the company was making payments to Iraqi sheikhs – likely to “obtain influence” with powerful local players – and accumulating a cache of weapons that was flowing steadily to officials from the Iraqi Interior Ministry, which had ties to armed militias and death squads.

Alarmed by situation, Vance and Ertel began passing information on the company, sometimes on a biweekly basis, to the Federal Bureau of Investigation – until they were whisked away to Camp Cropper in early April 2006 for “work[ing] for a business entity that possessed weapons… on its premises and [being] involved in the possible distribution of these weapons to insurgent/terrorist groups,” Ertel’s detention notice read.

According to the Chicago court’s decision, the men then endured conditions that were “perfectly consistent with torture treatments approved by Rumsfeld’s Defense Department,” including living in cells whose walls were smeared with feces, being deprived of food and water, forcibly kept awake in brightly lit rooms, and made to endure “intolerably” cold temperatures.

Cool WC . Fair enough

I most humbly apolgise for questioning the appeal that was being made in the OP. I am truly sorry for questioning it.

Please accept my apology.

I must stop questioning storys that have very little detail and look somewhat suspicious.

And I am sure they are spot on about Gadhafi and Bashar al Assad. I'm sure they are top blokes really

They have probably never hurt anyone.

No Joke !

I'm with you.

Just making sure others understand.

TPTB are controlling all (well, most) "press releases".

The "governments" and "leaderships" are usually installed by TPTB.

When their "assignments" are near complete, TPTB switch things around to get more money flowing back.

What is your problem. I genuinely apologise for my questioning.

Thats what you want isn't it?

To be told you are right?

You produce all this material backing up the beliefs of these jounalists that Libyan and Sryrian governements are nice to their people , look after them and DO NOT MURDER them.

What the hell is the problem man.

You are right. I am wrong. What more do you want. Do you want me to wite it in my own blood. Would that help.

here is an article written by Thierry Meyssan last week.

It shows how the U.S. tried to get $1.5 Billion from the frozen Libyan assets !!

Caught red-handed

by Thierry Meyssan

The United States tried to seize on Monday 1 500 000 000 dollars owned by the Libyan state, but at the last minute South Africa got in its way. The documents emanating from this episode, and unveiled by Voltaire Network, reveal that the members of the NTC and their staff are the direct employees of a US entity.

On Tuesday, 9 August 2011, Sana Khan, secretary of the Sanctions Committee established by resolution 1970 of the Security Council, transmitted to the Committee a notice from Ambassador Susan Rice, Permanent Representative of the United States before the United Nations........

Arguing that the unfreezing is legal when the funds are intended for humanitarian or civilian ends (Article 19 of Resolution 1970 [1]), Washington indicated that it will unilaterally allocate this amount as follows:

500 000 000 dollars to humanitarian organizations of its choice "to address ongoing humanitarian needs and those that can be anticipated, in line with the call of the United Nations and its foreseeable updates";

500 000 000 dollars to "companies supplying fuel and vital humanitarian goods";

500 000 000 dollars to the Temporary Financial Mechanism (TFM) for "salaries and operating expenses of Libyan civil servants, food subsidies, electricity and other humanitarian purchases." From this amount, 100 000 000 dollars will be provisioned to be subsequently allocated for the humanitarian needs of the Libyan people in areas not controlled by the National Transitional Council (NTC) once it will have established "a credible, transparent and effective" mechanism for handing over the funds......

The funds allegedly allotted to the NTC are actually delivered to the LIEM to pay the wages of NTC members and their staff. The difference is considerable: the National Transition Council doesn’t have a policy of its own; it is content to simply reflect that of the United States. This is normal when considering that the NTC was not formed during the events of Benghazi, but several years earlier in London as a provisional government in exile.

[color=limegreen]Consequently, the military action of the United States and its NATO allies or the Gulf Cooperation Council does not seek to protect civilians, pursuant to Resolution 1973, let alone "liberate the Libyan people," but indeed to colonize the country.

Washington-tried-to-snatch $1.5 Billion !

and this article by Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya explains how Libya could end up getting chopped up

The division of Libya into three separate countries has been an old imperialist objective of the U.S., Britain, Italy, and France

This are reasons why Thierry Meyssan and Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya are under death threats

Genuine journalism is dangerous. TPTB are very hungry these days !!

the article pages have other interesting views.

Has anyone seen anything about this in the NY Times ??

CNN's Ivan Watson just tweeted this about an hour ago:

Man makes absurd claims about #Rixos journos on RT. I saw him working for Gadhafi's "Fact Finding Commission" youtu.be...

That's Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya, he is talking about.
And he explains:

Gadhafi's PR operation had a strange team of foreigners working on its "Fact Finding Commission." Conspiracy theorists, very cozy w/regime

So maybe this is the explanation for their fear. Those who followed the events in the hotel Rixos will know, that about 35 journos are still kept there as hostages and all their lives are in danger - no matter for what media they are working.
Hope for them all, tha they will come out safe.

News Update about this related story:

Updates...

Voltaire Network denounces the attempt by the "rebels" to arrest Thierry Meyssan" Voltaire Network, Thursday, 25 August 25, 2011, 3:25 p.m. - The journalists who had been trapped inside the hotel Rixos in Tripoli since Sunday were evacuated yesterday, 24 August 2011, at 5 p.m, by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The four members of the Voltaire Network team - journalists Thierry Meyssan, Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya, Mathieu Ozanon and Julien Teil - were among them. However, after their release, the rebels tried to detain Thierry Meyssan, well known for his articles exposing the crimes of NATO. The ICRC intervened to prevent his arrest. The journalists were taken to another hotel, where they are no longer under ICRC protection. The journalists have thus far been unable to reach the ship chartered by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which is supposed to have already docked in Tripoli. Voltaire Network is extremely concerned about the attitude showed by the NATO-sponsored "rebels" towards its journalists. It is hereby launching an international appeal to the international community urging for the protection of its journalists and for their safe departure from Libya. Thierry Meyssan is a French national residing in Lebanon. He is registered at the French consulate in Beirut. A journalist for more than twenty-five years, he is a frequent contributor to Arab, Latin American and Russian publications, such as Odnako in Russia and La Jornada in Mexico. He has written several books on international policy issues and has regularly cooperated with television media, such as RT, Telesur or PressTV. He is the president of Voltaire Network, a network of independent press agencies, grouping a dozen publications from around the world. Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya is a Canadian national. He lives in Ottawa and is currently a Global Research correspondent in Tripoli. An independent journalist, he has published and given interviews for various media, including Russia Today, Press TV, Al Jazeera, Pacifica KPFA, Global Research, China Life Magazine. Several of his works have also published by Voltaire Network. Mathieu Ozanon and Julien Teil are also Voltaire Network contributing authors.

My fellow journalists and I have just received this email (pleading for help) from our colleague journalists in Tripoli:

Please can somebody help afford protection for international journalists as per Geneva laws for Human Rights

"Thierry Meyssan and Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya under death threat in Tripoli..."

The post on their website

in Tripoli, the bombings resumed around 10:20 this morning. They are directed against certain objectives, relentlessly assaulted by NATO. The fighting also resumed around the Rixos Hotel where certain Libyan leaders and most foreign journalists are still entrenched. From the Rixos, the order was given by so-called "journalists" from the United States to bring down Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya and Thierry Meyssan. Three states have offered diplomatic protection to the collaborators of Voltaire Network. However, trapped in the city, they have no way of reaching the respective embassies.

"Media professionals are increasingly at risk of being wounded, killed, detained or kidnapped while reporting in armed-conflict situations. Robin Geiss, an ICRC legal expert, talks about the protection to which they, as civilians not taking part in the fighting, are entitled under international humanitarian law."
His words, for the above...

Yesterday they also posted how Nato is doing a carnage in Tripoli aiding Al Qaida:

Nato Carnage in Tripoli

Anybody can help? or spread the message?
Can anybody also help some of the other innocent civilians also?

This is actually the date of the creation of my account. and it's a bug at the same time, everything I do on ATS has been posting this date. I have sent more than 3 messages to the board, but I don't think they were able to solve this issue and no one answered me. So who cares? But at least thank you for noticing.

Mahdi is a canadian citizen from ottawa. He works for professor M Chossudosky, professor in montreal. Globalresearch.ca if you feel like digging more. Hopefully he is back home, he has no conflict experience...
