I once heard that if you are feeling depressed, force yourself to smile and your brain will be fooled into releasing the chemicals that make you happy. Eventually, you will be smiling for real.

Some people think badly of people with depression and suicidal.
they think that it will never happen to them.
but if your home burns down with all your loved ones in it.
then you lose your job driving.
because a cop arrests you for killing a kid.
was not your fault. he run out from behind a car.
but now ever one hates you for killing the kid.
Now would you be depress’t and suicidal?
all ways be nice to them, with a smiles.
and invite them to things. help them!
because when depression starts.
ever thing and people seem to make it worse.
so you get suicidal.

and if anyone spent just the time they spent on writing on ATS about how bad things are, on actually making that change simply for free and quickly it would all be over, not because people take their lives but because the feelings and emotions are gone, they don't come back anymore!

If as you wrote is your scenario, actually happened to you I do care but about you being happy not the PAST if it was not matters not, do the following and seek a little bit of extra specialised help on maybe a 3-4 session max basis and its OVER is no more and happiness and sunshine come back. For those who have not had such bad experiences the extra help is not needed.

I like this. Really, any sort of positive thinking can allow a person to get themselves out of a rut. Basically, whatever floats your boat.

When it comes to moderate and severe depression, I have been reading many studies on Niacin can be just as good if not better than name-brand anti-depressants.

I took an SSNRI for about 6 months for having trouble sleeping. Its the worst experience in my life, especially the withdrawal when I no longer needed them. The sexual side effects were the worst while taking them.

Has anyone else heard about the effects of Niacin?

I have been doing a lot of personal research on the effects of basic vitamins and minerals and have significantly increased my intake in all nutrients and my mood has been altered positively at a very significant rate.

I'm not knocking you, and I'm sure that this probably does help some people. But unfortunately when I and some people that I know go through a severe bought with depression I could care less about anything except for how miserable I feel. I would even go so far as to say I don't care about anyone or anything outside my family and close friends at that point. Thinking about being 80 and in bad shape has no bearing on those feelings at that time. Hopefully if I did end up 80 on my death bed I would be thinking of all the good times I did have and maybe wishing for more, but at the same time being surounded by my loved ones and dealing with what was to come next. For me depression becomes something that consumes that particular moment, day, week, whatever. But during that time I could care less about ANYTHING else.

i think you will find its spelt like this ''cannabis''. i find it help with my depression as i am bi polar and it drives me mad sometimes un til i have a joint then i am ok for a while but its not for everyone though.

I got over my depression years ago, but I will try this out anyway to see if it offers a pick me up. I definitely think people are over-medicated these days. I subscribe to the school of psychology that believes many problems, even psychosomatic, are caused by experiences during childhood.

People develop certain "survival" tendencies, or mindsets for a better term, which are sufficient for the child world, but dangerous in the adult world. It isn't as simple as that really, but that is the general idea. It is all about the subconscious mind. Very interesting stuff if you want to read about it. If anyone wants some book recommendations, I can point you to some free resources online that will introduce you to these concepts...just message me.

As soon as you surrender your own personal accountability to an outside source of blame, 'mental problem, clinical depression, i'm different/special/there's-nothing-i-can-do-but-take-ADs' you will forever succumb to that reality that you are self-manifesting through your own perception until you finally take responsibility and look internally, not externally for the key...within, never without..your thoughts truly shape your reality, but thinking positive is not enough...you must discover the nature of reality, your true self, your underlying unity with all of creation.. When you understand the true nature of self and being you will see that the root of all depression, etc, lies in the illusion that you once lived, or are still living.

why am I still breathing? are you suggesting that we are nothing but an end? we just don't see it yet?

What is truly most likely the ultimate collective outcome of humanity I wonder.

I had many excuses to.

WHO stated its not simple? why do you believe that?
Its not a fact.

Well ive seen the following work on PTSD from war zones, rape, attempted murder, abuse etc do I need to go on.

There is simple quick solutions the rest is excuses or secondary gain, or is everyone on ATS who gets depression "different" or "special" compared to the many hundreds of thousands of others who had it and got out quickly, and for free?

The way the economy is, you'll probably be working 10 hour days, not 8


Companies are squeezing every last drop out of their employees to stay solvent.
