Mrs. Obama and her daughters arrived just before 2 pm Thursday on a U.S. government jet, according to the Martha’s Vineyard Times, which got its information from the local airport. The first lady’s office has been silent on her travel. President Obama arrived in the evening along with the family dog Bo.

The extra costs related to Mrs. Obama’s solo trip mainly include the flight on a specially designed military aircraft she took instead of Air Force One, as well as any extra staff and Secret Service that had to be enlisted to go with her. She would also have had her own motorcade from the airport to her vacation residence.

Mrs. Obama’s separate jet travel sends the wrong message on a host of issues, from global warming to the budget deficit to the economy – in which currently so many people can’t afford to take a vacation at all.

How nice, must be something to live like king and Queens and go on vacation once a month. "Let them eat cake" right. The obamas make me sick. Mrs. Obama tells us to only eat greens and tree bark yet she scarfs down a 1,700 cal burger. Mr. Obama tells us to be green and drives less as he and his wife take two different jets to there vacation home.

These guys live such double standerds and im tired off it!

Although I do not really care for Obama, why are so many people singling him out for things like this? Just look back to the past presidents and their families and you will find similar happenings. You don't even have to look back very far...Try Bush. I don't recall the Democrats making a huge deal out of his family's travel plans, because it is pointless to do so. The Republicans, in my opinion, spend more time throwing dirt on topics like this than Democrats...And no, I am not a Democrat, which I know is what you were thinking, lol. This was not directed to you OP, but to everyone.

Everyone needs a break from high stress and the president is no different then anyone else, but how many vacations does one need in a year? Like Congress, how many breaks do they take a year? These jobs are like part-part-part time jobs but with "REALLY" good pay. If these folks just not take but one vacation for just one year look at the taxpayer money saved. The kind of change we need is for the government to change it's belt size and suck it up and be more like a miser and save save save money!

Who is advising Obama, and who "permitted" the "private government" jet to take off?

Its good to be Queen and King...but we don't have a Monarchy. Is there NO one in the 'inner circle' that could say "Mrs. Obama, AF1 will be flying in four hours, we're going to have to ask you to please wait."

Or is Mrs. O (Michelle Antoinette Obama-MAO in my book) such hell on designer heels that no one CAN say no to her?

When Obama racked up 61 vacation days since taking office, Bush had racked up 196 days at the same point in his presidency, and I'm pretty sure he never flew coach to get to Crawford, TX... But of course you all are going to be able to show the rest of us posts that show how upset you were with Dubya too, right? Oh wait, no you can't 'cuz you're all noobs... Somehow I have a feeling you didn't think a thing about it when it was one of your boys doing all the vacationing... The double standards here lately make me sick...

People are still missing the point. It doesn't matter how many days Bush spent on vacation or that other presidents did the same thing. That like the little sibling screaming "but dad, billy got to do it". We are effing broke people. All presidents have been bashed for something while others did not. This about wasteful spending of our money. I can care less if he says we all need to sacrifice. I've learn to ignore much of what he says now but the spending is what really has me pissed. People are quick to jump on the super rich while others go without but its their money. He is wasting taxpayer money and turns around and would raise taxes if he could do it. The president should have the proper security but he shouldn't be going on vacation with it costing as much as it does. Now if he wants to pay the cost for fuel and security out of his own pocket then he can do whatever the hell he wants. I can't tell you the last time i could afford to go on vacation. Hell he's most likely only got a little more than a year left in office. He can go on all kinds of vacations then.
