Information that has emerged or garnered
new attention in the few days since he
entered the race suggests that, contrary
to the conventional wisdom, almost every
constituency on the right can find something
about his record to be upset about. Is Perry’s early appeal all hat and no cattle?

Before Gov. Rick Perry entered the race
for the Republican nomination, the conventional
wisdom held that unlike other candidates,
he would be acceptable to every constituency on the right.
Early polls confirm that GOP voters are tentatively supportive
as they get to know him, his issues, and his record.
But the scrutiny that comes with a presidential run often
persuades voters to reconsider their initial assessments.
And it is important that they do so with Perry.

Perry is still quite dangerous and that is underscored
by the fact that there are a lot of dumbed down voters
that could latch on to his dominating and direct style.

In spite of his greasy and sinister appearance people
appreciate boldness and forward thinking which he is
by saying that he doesn’t believe in global warming.
With that as a starting point, he is poised to co-opt
more planks of the liberty movement. As Perry has
seized the initiative in discussing such things,
he appears to champion such causes and with his
direct and confident delivery, he stands to draw much
attention from the true patriot candidate Ron Paul.

Perry mandated that all sixth-grade girls in Texas
receive the vaccine for HPV, a virus that leads to
cervical cancer and is most commonly transmitted via sex.
The Texas legislature ultimately overruled Perry, and he has
since apologized for what he says was a mistake he made
because of his hatred for cancer. (Really.) Michele Malkin is
among the right-leaning pundits who aren’t ready to forgive.

They’re upset that in 2007, Perry mandated that all sixth-grade
girls in Texas receive the vaccine for HPV, a virus that leads to
cervical cancer and is most commonly transmitted via sex.
The Texas legislature ultimately overruled Perry,
and he has since apologized for what he says was a
mistake he made because of his hatred for cancer.

I’ve often called for Paul to diversify his platform —
he is now faced with the necessity to do so. Let’s add one
more ingredient to the mix. Paul must speak with more of
a direct and active voice and less so with the passive one that he often uses.

This means that Paul is more of a conversationalist
while Perry is more of a salesman. Paul is also quite creative.
He needs to get command over Pretender Perry.
He certainly has the platform and forthrightness to do so.

The republicans either elect Ron Paul as nominee or Obama wins by default. Ron Paul has enough support across the political spectrum to ensure that no other republican will win.

Ron Paul has been the lone ya or na vote in congress for years... What i am afraid of is. Look at Obama and the "party of no" and how little we have been able to agree on.. Get RP in and we have two partys of no. Not sure that will serve us well.

*Edit to add* Kinda funny though, if Ron Paul changed to a leftest he would gain more support. Left wingers more prone to ideas of radical change then conservatives.
