I quit smoking a month ago..I have the urge and desire to still smoke..and if someone say 30 annoys me enough I may take 50 years off their life...

Okay..I actually feel better after that little rant..I still want a smoke tho...

So over 14 yrs, with an average of 2 packs a day. I have only lost about 5 yrs.

Those are the years when you are crapping yourself anyway, I don't want them.

All the non smokers can have my lost years so they can be miserable for a little longer.

If I calculated this right, a person that smokes 2 packs a day for 30 years will lose a little over 9 years of their life span.

Looks like I lost 2.5 years for 15 years of smoking @ 1 pack a day...not such a bad deal if you ask me...
Who wants the 85 - 87.5 years anyway - at the rate our economy is going I probably won't have any retirement to make it fun anyway

Yeah - me too...I've been quit for a year now and I still miss smoking on my commute or smoking while I'm drinking or even when it's raining and grabbing a cig to go outside and watch the storm...

Just missing the ritual...also the breaks at work...

Ok, I've had a bottle of merlot tonight but if 1 cig=11 minutes..then a 1 pack per day person loses roughly 54 days of life a year? Is that right??

The teenagers around here raid the ashtrays for butts to smoke in a pipe
Now thats pitiful

I smoke filtered little cigars
Also smoke a pipe
Snort powdered snuff when I cant smoke
I could die in a car wreck tomorrow..so why worry ?

No big deal. To paraphrase Denis Leary " what's it matter if smoking knocks 10 years off my life span, its the last 10 years, you know the crappin your pants, losing your memory, retirement home years"

Quitting smoking is easy, I've done it like 12 times,

Oh there goes 11 more minutes, dam.

I just did the math for myself, and that means i lost about 5 years (2 packs ish / day for 17 ish years)

big deal, the difference between 90 and 85

it has more bearing the younger you go though 65 to 70

I am soooo ready to stop smoking but it's just so hard. I am planning to try the e-cig myself. So glad you posted that you like yours. It's encouraging now to actually try them. Thanks

Wow they will say anything to try and scare people

I smoke when I drink while at work. (I work in a bar, drinking is part of my job). If I am not at work I dont really smoke. I had two cigs yesterday while cooking but it was more of a social smoking thing.

Everything you do can kill you. After watching that show "1000 Ways To Die," I have realized you really can die from just about anything lol so why live in fear of it?

What always makes me laugh is these studies don't really do anything. People who smoke will smoke til they themselves choose not to.
