Looking for a new book to read

Well I'm looking for a new book to read but I don't keep up with authors or anything like that. The last book I read was probably 3-4 years ago & that was the Da Vinci Code. So I'm looking for books similiar to that. One author that I am familiar with but have not read any books on is Erich von Däniken. I am very interested in his books and also anything similiar to what he writes about on Alien exisitance so so forth. So if anyone has suggestions of a title please let me know. Or if you have websites include those as well. Thanks everyone!

Also...I'd like to stay away from the fiction or science-fiction books. I'm looking for more documentary style books to say the least.

Youy might like "Supernatural" by Grahm Hancock, which is about alien encounters and other thigns, too. Actually check out all his books.

The following are not about aliens but they are good reading for ATSers:
1984 by George Orwell
Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

You might like "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Heinlen.

Sounds very interesting & has gotten good reviews.

I thought "Time Enough for Love" by Heinlen was interesting. It was sort of divided into short stories that pieced together to make the story fit together about the life of a man who seems to have lived a very long time.

They're not alien related, but I would suggest anything by Daniel Quinn. Start with Ishmael and work from there. Fairly short books and very easy to read. They're every enlightening on the myth that we know as civilization.

i know you said no science fiction but the rama trilogy by arthur c clark is definitely a win!

if not maybe the shock doctrine by chomsky, very good book.

That 1st time, it was very helpful for me, to give nicknames to many of the characters.
Some of the long Russian names, are similar, and can be a bit confusing, at first.

If you have read it before, then I would suggest to read it again.

Recommend an old book 1983(?) "Neuromancer" by William Gibson.

This is the book where the terms 'cyberpunk' and 'cyberspace' were coined.

yeah... I read it twice... great book. I have the entire set of Russian Classics.

oh I was going to recommend anything by Thomas Hardy...Woodcutter is a good one to start with...

Everyone of his books I have read, I have thrown around the house a few times...he really grabs you passionately... so you feel angry when things happen or don't happen.

You may like Genesis Revisited by Sitchin. A lot of ATSers do not agree with his theories but an interesting read nevertheless.

Try the other Dan Brown books, if you liked the DaVinci Code.
