I get what the point of this of this post is, but it's also kinda funny in a way.

Ok, so Obama bought a nice new shiny bus to use that cost 2 million bucks.

The United States is in debt by over 14 Trillion dollars.

14,000,000,000,000 / 2,000,000 = 7,000,000. So, in other words, Obama would have to buy 7 MILLION of these buses to reach the current debt. Somehow I REALLY doubt they care about 2 million bucks here or there... but yea, it sure would be nice if I had 2 million bucks in my hand.

Just saying... a LOT more needs to be done, 2 million bucks to these guys is worth less than a penny is to us. Kinda messed up huh?

I'm assuming the whole idea of building these things in the first place was to actually SAVE money, it's an investment; I don't have any numbers in front of me or anything but I'm pretty sure it's a lot cheaper to take a ride in a bus than to fly in some super powered jet pumping tons of fuel left and right. Who knows...

A Boeing 747-400 has a max fuel capacity of 57,285 US gallons. (from www.boeing.com...)

The price for Jet A fuel the airlines pay is usually a negotiated volume discount price, however you can get Jet A prices for any airport to do a for a ball park figure here: www.airnav.com...

As of Feb 21, 2005 the price range for Jet A was $2.64 to $4.46, with an average cost of $3.26. Therefore ...

57,285g x $3.36= $186,749.10 (So in other words, 2 million = about 10 full tanks of jet fuel, for a Boeing 747 anyway - who knows how much Air Force One can hold at a time, or even what kind of fuel it uses.

The U.S. President is our Ambassador to the World. More than that, he's the symbol of America, wherever he goes.
There's a reason D.C. is built to intimidate.
There's a reason Airforce One is so impressive.
Personally, I'd want our representative to command respect, awe, etc. and that is what these symbols of the office do. Justifiable expenses in my opinion, especially the added measures to ensure the President's safety.
And while I didn't vote for him, I respect the man, the office, and of course, the safety of him and his family.

I too believe in keeping the POTUS safe. But the limo "Beast" is no longer good enough for him? His Motorcade with Air Force support, is not safe enough? So he's placed into a Bigger Target

A target that was made in Canada, when a company in Oregon, that needs jobs, was overlooked?
Really?

What do you suggest that money should have been spent on instead? I am specifically asking you because I am familiar with your posts.

The U.S. military has provided an updated estimate on that cost, first published by a taxpayer watchdog group and confirmed by FoxNews.com, and the number is staggering -- $181,757 per hour.

www.foxnews.com...

So, this bus cost about as much as 11 hours of travel time aboard Airforce One. Placed in perspective, I think Obama actually saved the country money by opting to take the bus tour in lieu of jet-setting throughout the country. Of course, I'm certain this fact will go unacknowledged as well.

I'm actually enjoying my opportunity to correct you on this mistake that you made. The POTUS Flew Out in Air Force One, boarded his Magical Misery bus (which was unloaded from an Air Force Cargo jet), drove into the towns, went back to Air Force One, and repeated this multiple times.
So much for your financial endeavor. Perhaps you should go and work for Gietner

I know of coarse that no matter how philanthropic or humanitarian my answer would be, you would find fault with it.
But this thread is not about me nor you, it's the utter gall that obama has to cruise around in a foreign made bus (it could have been made in Oregon and then sent down to the Hemphill Brothers in TN) touting jobs for Americans!
BTW,
What would you do with 4 Million?

Guys.....seriously......he needs a private luxurious bus to think clearly. To think about important things, such as what blatant lies he can tell us next and expect us to believe. You can't do that on a grayhound bus......come tf on.

NOT!

Damn!!

Thank you. You plucked every thought out of my head and condensed it into one simple post, hat off to you sir. You're exactly right!

What makes you think the President doesn't have good intentions? Your disagreement with those intentions, if such is the case, does not make the President's intentions bad. But more to the point, the President's intentions are beside the point, the security is there for the demonstrably bad intentions of the potential attacker.

actions speak louder than Intentions. when I make my gf cry but that was not my intention it doesn't really matter now?

What intentions and what actions are you upset about?
Does Obama's new bus make you cry?

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Not sure who said that, an old proverb maybe, but nonetheless it holds true.

He spends MY money in Canada. Not acceptable

Exactly how much of your money was spent in Canada?
If you are seriously going to complain about it, you really better have a number.

Hey, maybe instead of volunteering for the military you should have volunteered to be president. We all make choices you know. Or do you think everyone deserves the same rewards no matter what choices they make in life?

Not to pick at you but this seems to be a trend lately of military people complaining about how it sucks to be in the military compared to being president. Yeah well duh. This is America. You want to be president, do it. You want to be in the military, do that. You want a $200,000 gingerbread house, go get one.

To me, it's the fact that he is spending taxpayer money to do something that clearly should be done with campaign funds.

What should be being done with those tax dollars and please be specific.

To others, it's the fact that the bus should be made in America.

Where?

Shoot, to some other people, it might even be BOTH reasons!!!!!

The fact that there are MANY reasons to dislike what Obama has done with his bus does not mean "split personality", as you say.

Sure it does because we both know that the reality is that the only real problem is that Obama exists and people just use different excuses to hate on him for things that really do not matter. I hope all of you remember this when a Republican is back in office. The way the right whines like little girls now any time anyone criticizes any of them, being president is going to suck with the new groundrules the right have set up for scrutiny and hate. Hell, I am still waiting to see every Republican candidates birth certificate.

You might as well just be screaming "But think of the children!" There will always be bigger problems to fix, does that mean we shouldn't spend money on anything until those problems are solved?

Besides if the president hadn't bought that bus, I guarantee that 2 million wouldn't have gone to the homeless. They are 2 completely unrelated subjects, tied together for emotional appeal.

It would be really fantastic if you could avoid childish name calling in the future. It makes it hard to take you seriously. So you would rather the money go to welfare? This is what you are saying?

I know of coarse that no matter how philanthropic or humanitarian my answer would be, you would find fault with it.

Really? I do not see how but perhaps you have better insight into what I think than I do. Explain that to me.

But this thread is not about me nor you, it's the utter gall that obama has to cruise around in a foreign made bus (it could have been made in Oregon and then sent down to the Hemphill Brothers in TN) touting jobs for Americans!

That has been shown to be false several times in this very thread and you keep choosing to ignore it. When you have to lie to make your point...

BTW,
What would you do with 4 Million?

Now it is 4 Million? Why does the price of the bus keep going up? It started at 1.1 Million with Hannity.
What would I personally do with that kind of money? I would have to think about that. Not being the president though, my options of using it to save the economy are rather limited.

The US population as of July 2009 was 307 million people.
www.google.com...=l&strail=false&nselm=h&met_y= population&scale_y=lin&ind_y=false&rdim=state&ifdim=state&tdim=true&hl=en&dl=en

U.S.A. unemployment as of July 2011 is 9.2%
www.google.com...:S&dl=en&hl=en&q=us+unemployment#ctype =l&strail=false&nselm=h&met_y=unemployment_rate&fdim_y=seasonality:S&scale_y=lin&ind_y=false&rdim=state&ifdim=state&tdim=true&hl=en&dl=en

That equals 2,8244,000. Almost 3 Million people unemployed. Now what part of the POTUS motorcade would you like to put them all to work at?

I like how you ignored my entire post and decided to make a long drawn out reply to one sentence I wrote, that is in fact, still correct despite your ignorant reply.

You stated yourself, the company, you admit, is from Quebec. Despite everything else you said, which I think is great, you say they were the only company that could do it. Do you have the proof to back that statement up or are you just believing propaganda from a source you would rather think as true? I find it very hard to believe. Sounds more like "feel good" justifications. Please give me the list of USA owned companies that turned the contract down. Sounds to me like you are the one believing propaganda, though I don't expect my saying so to have you stop for a second and look at the situation objectively. No chance of that I am afraid.

You want to talk about propaganda? What is it when you ignore context, ignore the entire point of a reply, pick out a sentence that has little to do with any of the opinion given and base your reply on that? Propaganda my friend, and you just contributed. Does it feel good?

lol, you really showed me. My post was about how both repubs and demos waste tax payer money financing a royalty like life style while the people that fund that life style struggle. I also pointed out that repubs and demos are blind to the evil done by their side because of the whole left/right distraction and the feeling that their "side" is winning or losing something rather than seeing things for how they really are, we are all losing and only the political class and their handlers are winning.

Is it just too hard for you to base a reply on what 99% of my post was dealing with? Is this really your idea of having a discussion? You argue with me about semantics, I said it was made in Canada when actually I should of said the company that made it is owned by Canadians. Big freaking whoop! Such a huge difference! Thanks for pointing out my slight semantic error!

Now do you have anything to say about the 99% of my post that you ignored? Any intelligent response to that or are you just the semantic police, making the world safe for forums everywhere?

Hell i would vote for him, he could hardly do any worse a job then the last 5 bozo's. I don't understand how some of you guys don't care about extravagant spending but care about entitelment spending that protects individuals and families from famine and homelessness? This is beyond me, though I realize socialism is the wrong way to create
a strong economy! I was'nt the one to outsource jobs, subsidize industries, create artificial bubble after bubble and all the other great legislature or business practices that caused the reduction of jobs and wages! I've heard Obama say more then once "it's time to tighten our belt's" but I guess he was'nt talking about his overbloated spending belt!
