Firefox 6.0? !

just noticed that FF jumped from 5.0 to 6.0.. that's a a pretty big jump if you ask me in s/w versions.. I fully expected it to be at maxium 5.1 or even 5.4.. but.. a full version ??

anways .. just saying .. I'd like to know if I should wait another 3 months for 7.0 or even 9.0 LOL.. sheesh ..

Seriously? I just upgraded to 4.6 because I was waiting for one of my fave add ons to be compatible. *Head desk*

My Firefox just auto-updated itself to FF6.0 and apart from not being able to run the AVG toolbar extension everything else seems ok.

About the version numbers, well does it really matter how Mozilla increments their new versions?
Personally I think they should of called it FF 2011-1a or something like that..

Just how it is I'm not sure by my personal experiences with firefox the program either would get corrupted and pop ups after pop ups would happen or I would end up with a virus. Internet explorer 8 is much safer...more security

Firefox is safe for the normal browser that dont do much but go to forums and facebook but I like to live dangerous

No virus for more than 6 months since I use Firefox, and am not the average user. When IE was infected, had to format and reinstall WinXp since nothing was working. At least when FF is infected, you can easily uninstall it and reinstall in a few minutes. No loss if bookmarks and Co are saved before.

well.. i'm no S/W engineer, but, normally, FF has gone through normal Versions of itself and s/w versions are numbered incrementally to denote small updates i.e. 3.2, 3.3, 3.5 and (someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that when you jump whole versions from like 5.0 => 6.0 means it's a COMPLETE new version .. which 'might' mean the entire structure or root system was changed..

it may not be a problem, just means it's kinda out of the 'norm' for s/w developers to bring in full versions, unless the last version was actually bad enough to make the jump.....

which, I thought 5.0 was just fine .. FF updated itself and found 3 addons/updates which could not find better updates which were ironically ..grrr..the most important IMO.. just seemed reeeeealy odd .. looking back at the history ..

JAVA & MS Network blah blah blah ..(can't remember what the heck it was )

same here and it was nearly monthly my IE browser was attacked...and I haven't used IE for a VERY long time, get around a bunch of geeks in a gaming session and it's interesting to hear convo's of convo's of people who know people who outright attack IE .. LOL .. some just for the fun .. LOL thus all the security updates LOL

yea.. there are a few out there that have a deep revenge against MS.. milkyou soft LOL .. this revenge goes WAY back when MS blocked all other browsers on Win95'(or was it 98')

I hate Google browser, nothing by virus and spy implant-tation IMO.. APPLE seems to chew through resources LOL .. so .. I'm stuck ..

I don't think it was because of your browser, it was because of your anti-virus not doing it's job or you got the virus in IE, which were hidden and when you switched to FF, they got busted .. which could have been a tactic my IE to exploit FF ..

It is the best browser I've used out of Chrome, IE, Opera and Safari. I'd say I've had more viruses while using IE.

Mozilla changed to the rapid release cycle. They ship a new version of Firefox every six weeks now. So expect broken extensions often : \

I've never gotten viruses/malware using Firefox and I've been using it since it's early days.

As for those paranoid about using Google's Chrome there is Comodo Dragon which is based off Chromium/Chrome but has any privacy issues striped from the software.

Obviously searching free pron and other virus prone websites. This is what happens when you search for ridiculous crap and click click click on anything.

I'm using FF (7.0) with Windows and (6.0) with Linux and at the moment all is well. Seems to be speedy, haven't had trouble with stability and my add-ons are compatible with the exception of Prism...

Take a hard look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer smart guy and if that fails you always have windows restore, then if that fails you can always use the disc that you might of bought of windows, if you dont have the hacked version of course then if that fails use your backup explorer to download IE again...if your not the average user your not very smart because its quite simple

I wouldn't wait too long to update, firefox has vulnerabilities too that can be exploited (just like any other browser), you should keep it up to date to whatever the latest version is. At this moment there is a critical vulnerability in 5.x and it is recommended to upgrade to 6: secunia.com...

If it breaks an add-on that you absolutely need you can try this:
kb.mozillazine.org...

It worked for me with one of my add-ons, it may not always work and could possibly fudge up things so....

As far as what's the safest browser.... umm any that aren't connected to the internets

Edit: then again if your still using IE 6 then you need your head examined

Which browser is more secure do you think? Chrome or Firefox? I'm actually on Chrome right now. I know as far as downloading goes, IE9 kills all in safety.
