How about let's check out the facts? what part of his 30+ year voting record is inconsistent? come back with that and maybe people will bother with you.

I do. Here are some reasons why, taken from his website:

He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.

He also wants to abolish the income tax, end the drug war and let the freedom of choice be up to the individual rather than the government, and back the federal reserve with gold to make sure it's power doesn't go unchecked.

Can you tell me which one of those things doesn't involve Ron Paul looking out for the people?

now i'm Canadian first of ,so me writting a letter ,aint gonna help,
but Kenedy was a Republican
and he hired a Canadian

Care to be a bit more specific? Explain a little bit how his position is the same as any other Republican, especially since he's essentially a Libertarian.

Other politician's records speak for themselves, and always seem to provide a treasure trove of dirt showing them flip flopping like mackerels on meth. So, find some dirt on him. Otherwise, you're doing nothing but blowing hot stinky air.

That's not true. Ron Paul says there are other ways to balance the budget without having to neglect those who have become dependent on the welfare state, unlike others who only regurgitate the same Republican talking points. Ron Paul has introduced at least 3 Bills to congress to restore Social Security, including one Bill that would prohibit Congress from taking money from this "trust" fund; ensuring that the money will be there for those who have put into it. With our current system, the rich are getting richer and getting bailed out, the poor are getting poorer and the middle class is being wiped out. The value of the dollar is going down, the price of living is going up, and the status quo are continuing with these same failed policies. It's not the Republican design to expand the poverty, it's the Corportists agenda and both Republicans and Democrats are guilty of it. Ron Paul raises awareness to this issue and the troubles with the establishment two-party system; that's why I think he would be a great leader for this country.

I think he is saying that more or less, conservatism is not the answer, socialism is. You can get that by him saying that all Republican's policies is to expand poverty, basically what I'm getting from him is that the only way to reduce poverty is with government intervention. Gee that's been working wonderfully!!

If a majority of americans were for Ron by the time the elections came, and everybody knew about the hype surely the rigged elections would be revealed when another candidate wins.... but i guess theres no way of telling

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Paul picking up 37% of the vote, while the president earns 41%. The Texas congressman joins Mitt Romney, Michelle Bachmann, and Rick Perry as candidates within hailing distance of the president at this time.

I don't consider myself a lurker as i have been a member of this site for some time, and i'm certainly no repub. but i like what mr. paul has to say and his background speaks well for his intents.

I'm glad this was posted under "political madness", because madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting the same result! Like, say oh I don't know, US Politics! If Ron Paul gets elected president, will it matter? No. Doesn't seem to matter who we elect as president, we always get the same result. Four years of monumental distraction from the real CRIMINALS in the Senate and the Congress! Smoke and mirrors, were the "President" is the "smoke", and the MSM is the "mirrors" and the Lords & Ladies in the in the "houses" who make, break, and rape the laws get away with MURDER! So yeah, Whoopee! Ron Pauls a great guy! and the band played on !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Star for you. You get it. It's that simple. Myself, I nominate Dr, John Zoidberg for president! He's as good a candidate as there is, no matter which plank he'd run on! But hey, you do get it, they could elect a fire hydrant as president and it wouldn't change a thing ! ! ! ! ! The band just plays on ! ! ! ! ! !

I don't know if its been mentioned (its a long thread and I didn't read every post) -
but ah, if we can safely assume that only a minor percentage of ATS "Voters" participated in the Iowa straw poll - then we could safely assume that together, we're looking at almost (very roughly) 36,000 votes which put RP ahead of Bachmann by quite a bit! Now, I know that ATS voters have a bit of Ron Paul fever going on, but still - the results ARE promising for his run this year!

Yes it is really impressive.

There is apparently 10 or 20 times the number of supporters this time around. It's a really pleasant surprise, and I am very thankful and happy to see that freedom is popular!

I don't see it as a Ron Paul thing though. I think people are fed up and see the ideals and principals of liberty as being the best solution to all of the madness. Paul just happens to be the only guy running on that platform.
