There are ways to tax other than Income Tax which originally was unconstitutional and that restriction should be reinstated. Any outsourced job should have any savings go to training a natively born citizen. Any position filled by an H1B Visa employee should advertise those positions as open. Anytime savings is found by automating labor, that savings should go towards retraining programs.

Having been born in South Central L.A., I feel no pity for some of the poor (who have A.C., cars, cable TV/Internet, etc.). I've seen way too many cases where people avoid improving themselves in fear of losing government benefits. That really ticks me off, those people make themselves permanent burdens on society. The people I do feel strong pity for are those who are laid off due to government policy, especially craftsmen or skilled labor with decades of experience. Tax advantages of opening offshore companies are created by politicians.

Related to the spirit of this thread though:

08/17/2011 - Following the recent riots in the UK, it seemed there was only one safe bastion from the marauding bands of indignants, labor unions, and general hooligans: Germany. That is, alas, no more. During the past two days, German protests against globalization, read Germany's undertaking to trade export strength for a joint European currency and a bailed out Club Ded periphery, have begun manifesting themselves albeit with a twist. As Bloomberg reports, in the past two days, arsonists have set fire to 26 cars in Berlin, mainly Mercedes, BMW, and Audis, which brings the total number of torched cars to 138, more than double all of 2010. "The arsonists want to hit what they say are ‘Fat Cats,’” Berlin police spokesman Michael Gassen said. A special unit is investigating the fires as political crimes after the police received letters claiming responsibility that derided globalization, gentrification and rising rents, he said." It appears that while the Arab Spring was started by the self-immolation of a fruit seller protesting more or less the same things, that level of self-sacrifice is strangely missing in Europe's (and maybe the world's) most prosperous, and entitled, nation. As such we doubt much if anything will come out of this, suffice to way that Joe LaVorgna will promptly raise his German GDP due to replacement costs associated with rebuilding the burnt down "fat cat" cars. Also, if this is the apex of protesting, we doubt that Italy and the rest of the insolvent PIIGS has much to worry about Germany pulling away the subsidized methadone IV drip.

Then what's the point? And regarding sentence no. 2, whaaat?!

Exactly. Having to retrain workers who had their jobs outsourced would remove some of the corporate enthusiasm for outsourcing to cheap overseas labor. There would be no point.

Many companies in Silicon Valley are flooded with H1B workers, and companies are using the excuse of not finding the right skillsets rather than just saying they're cheaper. Anytime a US company fills a job with an H1B worker, that job is not filled by a US person, so it must be advertised as open. It's criminal that with such high unemployment in the country that US corporations would bring in cheap foreign labor to fill jobs. Not criminal, but treason is a better word.

And what's stopping a corporation from just shutting down and incorporating elsewhere? Or contract their businesses to others? Like Apple does.

Tax the super rich and they will just leave the country, taking their investment capital with them. There is an easier solution. We just need to CUT spending.

Taxing the super rich is not going to help the poor or lower classes All it does is give the government more ability to steal. Its like saying hey I was robbed and I want someone to rob that robber and then I will be ok with being robbed.

What most people do not understand is most of the super rich got that way but government politically protecting them and running their competition out through regulation etc.

What needs to happen is the super rich need to be decoupled from government protections. Higher taxes never bring in more revenues the bring in less as businesses downsize and lay off taxpayors and they seek ways to avoid paying even more. Government does not need taxes to be funded. We need to do away with taxes and government regulation that favors only the politically protected and level the playing field then watch the economy take off.

The big corps that have taken bailouts and bought and paid for politicians and legislation should be dissolved and thier officers who participated in government collusion arrested and tried for treason!

Yeah, and those guys are really investing their capital into the country right now, correct?

Unless you're talking about people that run McDonalds, this is pure baloney.

So basically, this is a threat.
Give us more entitlements or we will riot and burn down our own neighborhoods.

You do realise that this is akin to a thief holding a gun to his own head stating that he'll shoot if you don't hand over your wallet.

Go ahead.

Pull the trigger.

Yeah, I don't foresee any race riots in Texas anytime soon, this is what happened last time blacks tried to riot in Texas.

The Camp Logan riot began the evening of August 23, when 156 angry soldiers ignored their officers' orders, stole weapons from the camp depot and marched on the city of Houston. They were met outside the city by the police and a mob of armed citizens, frightened by the reports of a mutiny.

Why do you assume that blacks will be the only ones rioting?

I love how some of you [hate-site-nolink] posters just assume that everything that has to do with being poor, angry, and entitlements pertains to non-white people.

Political correctness is killing this country. If riots will happen in the U.S. they will be by the blacks. Look at the race related mob attacks happening in the North, Sorry, I will not sugar coat it for you. Facts are facts. Deal with it.

reality check people you can take every cent the super rich have and it will never come close to the promises made by the government.

what that is doing is killing the money train now matter how bad people think things are they can be a whole lot worse.

so what happens when there are no rich?

you can stop the economic meltdown quite easily and thats getting government the hell out of it.

they are the cause no matter what you want to beleive and it is what you want to beleive,

has all the government intervention done anything ? anything at all? is poverty wiped out? does everyone have a free home free car free food and a free education?

No!!!

we americans have wants and desires that we cant pay for and the current state of the union exists.

dont like it deal with it cause begging for more government will make things worse.

It boils down to jobs. Some communities have social and cultural characteristics that discourages participation in education and career paths. They're left with non-career jobs which fluctuate with the economy. This situation also result in disrespect, which is an additional discouragement.

A large number of unemployed, a feeling of disrespect (especially from authority figures) and you have the recipe for a riot.

So, give people jobs and respect, and you won't have riots. No matter how much money their neighbor has.

The 'smart' wealthy know that stability is their best friend and a growing number of them are scared. Most old money probably couldn't care less what happens in the country.

NO ONE, no matter who you are, is safe during a period of extreme economic and social instability.

So I agree that big money is blinding to many.

We must first stop the free medical treatment for millionaires. My boss has drained the system of hundreds of thousands of dollars for needless medical treatment for himself. He has several million. Not fair.

See kids.....That's what a racist looks like. Smug in their ignorance and totally cowardly in their outward assumptions.

Look close, they won't be around much longer. They'll fall into a homozygous inbreeding trap that will render their genetic line full of errors and congenital defects until they can't breed anymore, and then they'll just be memories no one wants to talk about.

No one is getting to the real core of this issue. Which is that wealthy people feel that they are superior to everyone else who isn't wealthy.

It does not matter where their wealth came from. They believe that they are superior, and that they deserve everything they have, and they always deserve MORE.

GREED.

Wealthy people believe that greed is something that is good, and useful and that it is a Virtue that they are entitled to possess because they are superior enough to handle it. Corporations are driven from the top down by groups and individuals who honestly believe that GREED is a virtue and that it is more important than any other virtue.

People who some day HOPE to be wealthy, or feel that they are getting closer to wealthy, also feel that they are superior to a portion of the population. They see themselves on a specific rung of a wealth ladder, and they have just enough greed and entitlement to feel that they get to agree with greed based decisions that might some day benefit them. So they are just wanna be greed peddlers.

Greed is not a virtue. In 2000 years of human civilization the greatest thinkers, spiritualists, and even warriors have told the world at the top of their lungs that greed is bad, greed destroys, and greed cannot sustain anyone or anything.

It's greed. So all of you defending the idea that the rich are entitled to more because they obviously know what they are doing because they are rich, just consider the things you profess to believe in. Just think of the principles and values, and VIRTUES you complain the world is ignoring.

Then ask yourself, How much Money would Jesus need to feel wealthy! How much GREED did Jesus say was OK???

That really doesn't matter because all Christians are lying hypocrites anyway, but it never hurts to rub their smug noses in it.

It feels very similar to telling the truth. Which is something else both the wealthy, and Christians are unfamiliar with.

Of course there are exceptions. There are always exceptions. Warren Buffett and Bill Gates come to mind. I can't name any Christian exceptions. Sorry. I just don't know of any.
