The New York Times published an article this weekend about how President Obama's administration is considering whether to get more verbally combative about economic issues.

But the last part of the article actually scared me: The administration may also merge the Department of Commerce, the Office of the United States Trade Representative and some economic divisions at the State Department into a new agency, administration officials said. Possible names include the Department of Jobs or the Department of Competitiveness.

Just think of all the jobs he will be creating out of thin air by creating a new, bloated, government bureaucracy! He can staff it with political supporters from ACORN and employ 10,000 people overnight.

As in shrinking, not growing government....as well as giving them a dictate to focus on Job Creation.

Sounds good to me, unless you are for growing government and high unemployment?

25 million on unemployement another 50 million on welfare government has done a great job on job creation

as in putting people on the government dime.

as for government shrinking? what world are you living in? government has never shrunk or does anything remotely effiecient that is except to destroy those job creators.

wealth creation doesnt come from the government wealth destruction does and jobs is the only from of wealth creation in this country and the us government has a long history of execelling at job destruction,.

Compared to the last republican idea of tax cuts for the wealthy to create jobs, (that never happened) Im all for something anything to get this economy moving up instead of down.....

Compared to the last republican idea of combining government agencies into the dept of homeland security, that did in fact make the federal government bigger.....

We will see...

But then don't be for this, it will only be pro-big-corporations

There is a slight problem what exactly would the department of Jobs be responsible for? Government should not get involved in business, if it does, then it is socialism, and the end of competition and the job market as it stands. It also means the end of choice for the people. This is not a good thing, but something to be fear and shunned.

Guess people are going to ignore your valid point just like they ignored what the article really said.

The article siad they are thinking of MERGING 3 different economics departments into one. I get that you all are afraid of big govt getting bigger, so am I, but this is not what has been presented. Merging departments usually means downsizing. Not saying that will happen, but it's not adding a whole new department, which is what you all are freaking about.
