Are you serious dude? That's your analysis of Anonymous, they're some nerds who want attention?
It's not people standing up against the corruption within the world and the government, because most people are too braindead and ignorant to even see what's going on with this country, you see them as some nerds who want attention?

Have you seen V for Vendetta? That's what their organization is modeling themselves after, it's not some nerds who want attention, it's people standing up against corruption.

I'm speechless.

Do you know a single member of Anonymous? They could be working men, elderly citizens, 12 year old asian schoolgirls, but it doesn't matter what their age is, what their popularity or social status is, or what their hobbies are
Originally posted by TupacShakur
because Anonymous is a group that stands up against corruption because the rest of society is either too lazy, too scared, too apathetic, or too ignorant and they don't even see things that happen in the world.

Hell yeah, I'm pissed! Some pigs killed a retarded man who was handcuffed, and they didn't even get punished!
At least they did something! Would you prefer that the members of Anonymous got out of their moms basement or wherever you ignorantly assume them to be, pick up some guns, go to the Fullerton Police Station, and kill a bunch of cops? Or would you prefer that they stand in front of the police department in a futile attempt to produce results from protesting? At least they did something about this, even if they just shut down a website for a few hours.
The claim was that they would shut down the website, and the website was shut down. Or did I miss something here?

Also, I don't think Anonymous is going to change the world and make it perfect. If we want that to happen, there will have to be either a revolution, or a president who sticks to the Constitution and has realistic views on issues *cough cough Ron Paul*. I just like that many controversial issues that don't yield any results are taken into their hands. Even though taking down a website, releasing some e-mail, or things like that aren't going to fix the world, at least they're making the point that there are people out there who see what's happening and disapprove.

However they have yielded results, they got some CEO to resign after some beef a while back.
That sounds like some mainstream media propaganda to me, or some douchebags within Anonymous. Do you have any proof of these claims, maybe one of those YouTube videos that they release before doing something to back that up?
Of course it's not people with a deep-seated political cause. If they were , then they'd actually do something rather than saying they're going to do something. Remember, this is the same ''collective'' who [color=limegreen]flooded epilepsy forums with flashing images, bullied an 11-year-old girl and posted child porn on YouTube.
The mask that they wear is symbolic of the idea that all people can be united by an idea. I don't see how that's really such a fairy-tale concept, but whatever.
I haven't seen the film, but that would rather reinforce my point regarding their general problems with discerning between reality and fantasy. Merging the two ends up with them not quite living in the real-world but, at the same time, not quite living in a fantasy-world. A bit of both, really !
Are these the guys that put flashing pictures in epilepsy forums? I would expect people that act so immaturely to be kids, and it would be pretty disappointing to find out that adults were doing that.
Also, Lulzsec, who were just an offshoot of Anon, and who wanted to carry on amorally attacking sites for the lulz without interfering with the pious, holier-than-thou PR facade of Anon, have been busted, and look at the demographic of their members ? Socially awkward, pimply teenagers. Quelle Surprise !
I think you'll find the only connection between the average Anonykid and 12-year-old Asian schoolgirls, relates to pictures contained on the Anonykid's hard-drive...
My bad, I guess people....like corruption?
Who are you or they to decide what everyone else should want ?! What arrogance !
Yes, but they're using their power to fight corruption, at least for the most part, when they're not being douches and posting flashing pictures in epilepsy forums. If they were just hacking random sites for no reason, that would be stupid and I wouldn't support them.
Complaining about corruption and abuse of power, then abusing their own comparative power to effect undemocratic change is the height of hypocrisy.
But it does, because that's what this thread is about, Anonymous taking down that police stations website.
Again, that has nothing to do with a critique on Anon's actions - or inactions, to be factually correct.
I'm actually in college. But I'm sorry, I should have been more respectful towards 5 sociopathic law enforcement officers who beat a handcuffed retarded homeless man to death while he was lying on the ground defenseless. Jeez, I'm so disrespectful, using the term "pig" to describe 5 people who tortured a man to death by electrocution, and then beat him into a coma, eventually killing him is so rude of me!
I've also never heard anyone over the age of about 15 use the term ''pig'' to describe a police officer. Perhaps that's quite telling...?
Yeah, but lots of people are aware of the people that Anonymous targets, and as more people follow their activities, the more people will learn about the screwed up things that go on in the world.
I doubt that corrupt politicians and businessmen are unaware that there are people who disapprove of their activities. However, I also doubt that they will be too affected by a group of anonymous people taking down a website for a couple of hours or releasing data involving normal people within government agencies.

Is file-sharing considered publishing I wonder, as in p2p? Maybe there's a loophole in there somewhere, because I seriously hate to hear of anyone, especially young people ruining their lives by committing felonies...
Another thing that concerns me in this particular thread, is that a man was brutally beaten and killed, and some of you are only concerned about your internet freedoms being attacked. This is one of the most selfish things I have ever heard of in my life, seriously....

So now Anonymous has become judge, jury, and executioner in your eyes?
In all cases, absolutely not! But there was no judge, jury, and executioner in the case of these police officers, they committed murder and got off the hook.
Where was the judge and jury while 5 cops were beating a handcuffed, mentally retarded man to death? It's OK for Fullerton PD to become the judge and jury, but not OK for citizens standing up to this to be the judge and jury of corruption?
