The bloke killed himself for no reason. Nowhere in the Bible does it say anything about an unforgiveable sin except when Jesus says that to blasphemy the Holy Spirit is an unforgiveable sin. The Bible doesn't say that suicide is unforgiveable, thats the Roman Catholic Church's propaganda to keep the peasants in the fields working for the lords so the church could keep taking its tributes in gold.

The israelites commited all kinds of atrocities in the sacking of caanan, from throwing babies off battlement walls to butchering women as well. All God required of them was for them to stay away from everyone else for 7 days until they had been cleansed of their guilts and come to terms with forgiving themselves for taking lives.

This ranger should have gone to a psychiatrist, PTSD will get you an honorable discharge and he was clearly suffering from PTSD. There are only 2 types of reactions to killing people, either you stop caring and you become a machine, or you go crazy.

I would put it in a different way- Let me quote from the movie- The Outlaw Josey Wales- Which has had a profound effect on me, in terms of killing civilians in times of war and anarchy.

" In times of battle, when you think you are not going to make it; then you've got to become mean and I mean plumb mad dog mean!!!"

Exactly WHAT is do-able?

What is this goal we have for the wars in the Middle East?

Revenge?

Helping an entire region of religious zealots change for the better, by killing
a hundred thousand of them, and then ~hoping~ they see the light and
reconstruct their entire theology and install OUR way of government?!

I can't believe how many stars your post recieved. It saddens me that so many
people are mislead by the media, by their religious doctrine...BY THEIR FEAR!

I said this way before it began to happen, that the BEST way to modernize
Middle Eastern culture is to inundate them with smart phones and internet...
then just wait. The youth will rebel and the world would change...AND NOBODY
has to die. Show them by example on YouTube what they are missing in life and
the zealots lose.

I wish I were alien, because humans disappoint me so often.

This is a war of profit for the elites...there is no other impetus.

Well there you have it. And that's why no one ever won a war caring about civilians.

I'm not endorsing this. I'm simply stating what is true. War is not a game for men with hearts.

Bible makes it quite clear. War is reserved for only the most evil people, whose removal can only be done through massive damage and assault. God did order the slaughter of entire civilian populations. But history tells us why. The region was full of pirates, barbarians, rapists, and horrible people. So evil that not even the concept of "innocents" existed. For such a culture of death, the season is that of death. To kill all and remove them from the face of the Earth, least weak minds be carried along with them.

If war is reserved for the right to kill evil people ..why does God ask good people to do it..? He is all powerful..he could have ALL these people drop dead at his fingertips..if he so choose...but instead..he asks good men ..who he has commanded NOT to kill in his commandments..to go and risk their lives to kill off evil?

Just another example to me that this so called God is a bit of a sadist..and hypocrite.

Well to be honest. There's nothing to that. If you had to worry about God smiting you down for every transgression, you don't have free will.

For me, it's just another example of a sane God who allows his people to manage their own kingdom rather than go in and run everything. To me God's way and the Government's way is really no different. And nobody likes a control freak using you like a puppet. If you so request to be such a puppet, God will work with you on your level. I have, and I've had a grand time on the journey.

If not, that's your choice. Free will.

So God allows people to manage their own kingdoms by condoning what he has commanded them not to do in his commandments?

nope. He allows them to manage their own kingdom. Even Jesus said that rules can be broken for the betterment of salvation and even a simple act of humanity. He did break the rule of Sabbath by healing on the Sabbath. It was for salvation and an act of kindness.

A sad irony here is in Christianity, or in the very least Catholicism, suicide is a sin, and one who commits it will never reach heaven.

This is one aspect of the catholic church I despise. One is suffering so badly that they see suicide as the only way out, and what do they receive after? Eternal damnation. That is not a just God.

I wonder if it would be possible, if someone needs to go to hell, for Dick Cheney and George Bush Jr. to be sent instead as a proxy..?

EIGHT deployments? In ten years? The US Gov't spends more on its military than the next four largest militaries in the world COMBINED and they still need to deploy the same guy 8 times in 10 years to war zones?

Are they really still stretched that thin? This, to me, is just another sign that the USA needs to pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan, immediately.

Neither country wants them there, and as soon as they leave (no matter how long they are there) either country will just degenerate into civil war immediately.

Better that it happen sooner, rather than later after the useless waste of more American lives and taxpayer $$$ rebuilding nations that don't want to be rebuilt, while meanwhile infrastructure in the USA is crumbling around them because they can't afford to repair their own stuff, because they're spending their taxpayer dollars on building infrastructure in countries that don't want it.

Read this

www.newamericancentury.org...

And you'll see the policy in full bloom pre-9/11 which only 9/11 was able to make possible. Dick Cheney was part of the "mastermind", and Bush Jr. a willingly complian sociopathic accomplice.

Read the whole thing through and note the part where it states

fight and decisively win multiple, simultaneous major theater wars;. • perform
the “constabulary” duties associated with shaping the security environment in..

He took his own life because of PTS.
with post traumatic syndrome there is no time of peace.
Even at time of rest or sleep (if you can get any) it's there.
He was a brave soul and a hero to me.
He just didn't get the care he needed.
RIP.

Sing along everyone, Uncle Sam don't care about us , or the corporations that invent these abominable worthless wars. We are just meat for the grinder, the expendable crew member that gets beamed down in very episode of star trek. Never to return or return as a empty shell.

Bodies fill the fields I see, hungry heroes end No one to play soldier now, no one to pretend Running blind through killing fields, bred to kill them all Victim of what said should be A servant `til I fall [Chorus:] Soldier boy, made of clay Now an empty shell Twenty one, only son but he served us well Bred to kill, not to care Do just as we say Finished here, Greeting Death He's yours to take away Back to the front You will do what I say, when I say Back to the front You will die when I say, you must die Back to the front You coward You servant You blindman [End Chorus] Barking of machinegun fire, does nothing to me now Sounding of the clock that ticks, get used to it somehow More a man, more stripes you wear, glory seeker trends Bodies fill the fields I see The slaughter never ends [Chorus] [Why, Am I dying? Kill, have no fear Lie, live off lying Hell, Hell is here] x2 I was born for dying Life planned out before my birth, nothing could I say had no chance to see myself, molded day by day Looking back I realize, nothing have I done left to die with only friend Alone I clench my gun [Chorus] [Back to the front]x5.

They probably made that "rule" years ago because suicide would lower the number of people who could give money to their church. That's why they are against birth control.

Catholicism is a far cry from what the Bible teaches.

The Bible teaches that we should not worship false idols, only God. That means we should not worship and pray to Mary or any of the multitude of saints that Catholics worship.

My brother was married in a Catholic church because of his wife. When I was in there I noticed there was not one Bible in the pews. Only Catholic books that told you what to do according to THEM.

A friend of mine was trying to get divorced from a wife who was fooling around on him and using drugs all the time. The Catholic church said no. $400 later the church said yes.

I have many more examples but this will suffice.

The stress to bring that on must have something to do with what happens in real life. He must have thought he was going to be a hero and help people... I might have felt the same way when I heard of the horrific things that the army is doing in these third world countries. Spirit can do whatever it want's he must have had a strong belief in taking responsibility for other peoples suffering. God hears you friend and I hear you as well. Your service might not have been what you wanted to be but at least you refused to let go of your ethics despite the lack of ethical policies in the field. I hope the universe finds a place for you where you won't have to be tormented by this crap.
