I love this album. This is for anyone who's had a pink cloud turn gray, and especially for those of us who loved the ones who didn't wake up.

Here are a few:
Wake up

and
Long Gone Day
and yes, I remember...

So much blood I'm starting to drown
Runs from cold to colder
Time to time the skies come down
To help me lose my way
Tears and lies for answers
You and open veins, God knows I'm gone
Girl I just want you to
Come on down
Lord it's a storm and I'm heading to fall
These sins are mine and I've done wrong, oh babe
Come on down
Long gone day
Mmmm, who ever said
We wash away with the rain
See you all from time to time
Isn't it so strange
How far away we all are now
Am I the only one who remembers that summer
Oh, I remember
Everyday each time the place was saved
The music that we made
The wind has carried all of that away
Long gone day
Mmmm, who ever said
We wash away with the rain
So many tears I'm starting to drown
The rain in heaven's all come down
Silver spoons fix the crown
The luckless ones are broken
Fears and lies for answers
You and open flames
God knows I'm gone
And I just want you to
Come on down
Lord it's a storm and I'm heading to fall
These sins are mine and I've done wrong
I want you to, oh I just want you to
Come on down
I fear again, like then, I've lost my way
And shout to God to bring my sunny day

And lastly
Artificial Red

All alone
We're all alone
Thank You

love this band. Layne was so awesome.... his death was such a loss to the music world. AIC is one of my favorite bands.

I always dug this one, I Don't Know Anything

and of course River of Deceit

"My pain is self-chosen
At least, so The Prophet says
I could either burn
Or cut off my pride and buy some time
A head full of lies is the weight, tied to my waist

The River of Deceit pulls down

My pain is self-chosen
At least I believe it to be
I could either drown
Or pull off my skin and swim to shore
Now I can grow a beautiful shell for all to see"

Man I'm glad these guys got together and made such a great piece, chilling, deep and timeless.
RIP Layne

Peace,
spec

A couple days ago, I saved several images while creating some of the posts, that I added to this thread. Most of these images, I had not yet posted.

This ↑ letter, that was written by Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees & Mad Season...), can be found in it's entirety (2 pages) @ Layne-Staley.com. I edited out some of it, just to make it shorter. My favorite portion would be the 2nd paragraph from the top. It shows alot of heart. A big heart.

[color=00FFFF]Mad Season ~ 'Wake Up'

[color=CFECEC]Wake up young man, it's time to wake up. Your love affair has got to go.
For 10 long years, for 10 long years. The leaves to rake up
Slow suicide's no way to go, oh... Blue, clouded grey
You're not a crack up. Dizzy and weakened by the haze
Moving onward. so an infection not a phase

The cracks and lines from where you gave up. They make an easy man to read
For all the times you let them bleed you. For little peace from God you plead, and beg
Slow suicide's no way to go, oh..... Slow suicide's no way to go
Wake up, wake up, wake up...... Wake up, wake up, wake up

You're welcome, and Thank you for providing a thread for me to post them in, where they would be appreciated. Like I said, I had most of it prepared: saved, cropped, re-sized, etc. Just hadn't used it yet.

The statements that Barrett made, in the "Memorial Letter," really touched me. If you haven't already, I would advise reading the entire 2 page letter, on the site that I linked.

Also, you might find some songs you like in this 'Sad Songs' thread. There's quite a variety. I posted a few from 'Sap' & 'Jar Of Flies.' But I have also tried to keep that variety. There's several others posted there too. A few bands I've never heard of.

P.S. 'Wake Up' was the only Mad Season song that I posted in that other thread, but it was just the song, along with the album cover pic. I hadn't seen this particular video with the song. I like it.
Too bad I can't go back and edit to swap out the one I posted, with this one.

Ok, well I can't mention any music threads, without also mentioning this one:
[color=DeepSkyBlue]MJK Best thread on ATS, in my opinion. That opinion is in no way influenced by the fact that it was/is mine.

By far one of the greatest band's to come together. McCready said, "We did all the Mad Season music in about seven days. It took Layne just a few more days to finish his vocals, which was intense since we only rehearsed twice and did four shows."[1] (Wikipedia.com/madseason) Great album and great band, but extemely sad ending...
