That would be an interesting story line for a B movie but....

Zeppelins were buoyant because of hydrogen, not hot air. And Hitler did not have a chest that any female would be interested in. Not even Eva.

Other than those two things, sure a Zeppelin could have made it to the moon. Well the engines would conk out 'cause they need air and, let's see, The control surfaces wouldn't do much in space. Solar radiation would be a bitch. The outside surface of the vessel that was in sunshine would be several hundred degrees F and the shady side would be like minus 235 F. Minor things for the superior mind of the Nazi.

Well, maybe.

The Hanebu is the Nazi UFO. If Hitler was going to escape in anything he would have chosen one of their flying saucers, I think. Why choose a hydrogen balloon when you can go in style?

I dont believe the official story, that he was in a bunker and got married to his mistress then not even a hour later he shot himself and his wife took pills to kill herself, most likely they got escorted somewhere and lived happily ever after...but the moon? what are you smoking?

There has been many varied replys to this thread, not 100% sure everyone got the gist of the thread.
But not everyone is on the same plane on any subject.
Metaphors and imagery are sometimes ambiguious.
But ATS sometimes needs a few avant garde (sic) threads every now and then or not.
At least it wasn;t Hitler pedalling a penny farthing with Eva Braun on the handlebars, the ballon above escaping Allied Aircraft attacks.
But wouldn't it be marvellous folks if we could simply float through the stratosphrere in a balloon and go visit all the folks on the moon?
A picnic basket a few bottles of red, a good book or two to read by starlight.
Perhaps a dance in the ballon basket naked with your lady/man ,luminous love .

I would like to believe that Hitler TRIED to do this and died this way.

Being foisted his own petard in such a way would be so much more poetic justice than just shooting himself while hiding in a bunker.

Though, either way (running or hiding) has him dying like a coward. I prefer to think of him as a psycho who really believed he was going to get away...and then at the proper altitude realizing he not as smart as he thought he was and it sure is a long way down.

Really doubting it happened...but it would be nice if it did.

I don't think that a zeppelin would work in space. They work because gases like helium and hydrogen are less dense than our atmosphere, so they float like oil on water.

For your enjoyment

Romance + Nazis + Blimps = Budapest by Blimp (a strangely hauntingly beautiful song)

"On the corners of boulevards I call your name
Now and again they play our tune
In the grip of a tiny hand over a flame
Pale as the phases of the moon ...

In the cafes and shopping malls I see your face
turn into mist on evening dew
but a book and a photograph just aren't the same
there is a train that's leaving soon [soon]

[Bu-Bu-Bu-Buda] ...Budapest by Blimp

Over pillars and palaces I'll hold your hand
Until the fog is lifted
It may be better you hold me close than understand
How far away I've drifted

In the face of a tragedy too bleak to know
The death of some grand illusion
All the treasure we pilloried, splendour we stole ...
They never told you that in school

[Bu-Bu-Bu-Buda] ...Budapest by Blimp

...Que je voudrais vous presenter, messieurs et dames
Regardez bien, je vous en prie

Here's a map and a diagram, a shrivelled page
Ripped from the book of history

See the priceless antiquity frozen in time
Built on the ashes of the Jews
And for your curiosity, beauty sublime
Signed in the blood of Zulus

Not really a goosestep, more of a limp

... Budapest by Blimp."

Nah English patriot would even spit on you.............

Strange how a Led Zeppelin could now be flashing on the moon?
Messages in German?
Trouble is they landed the now malfunctioning Zeppelin on the dark side of the moon, so only Aliens can read Hitlers revised edition of Mein Lampf?
