Four people were killed and a dozen injured after a stage collapsed during a storm Saturday night at the Indiana State Fair, where the country group Sugarland was set to perform, the Indianapolis Star and WTHR reported.

Concertgoers were helping hold up parts of the collapsed stage that fell into the standing area below to help anyone who might be trapped, eyewitnesses said.

Just found out about this. Still in shock. I knew quite a few people that attended. Praying for the injured and those who have lost family. What a tragedy.

Yeah, news came about an hour and a half ago. Sad news.

CNN is now reporting that 3 are killed and 24 injured and that is directly from the Indianapolis Department of Public Safety.

One source: nydailynews
Four reported to have lost their lives, as it's developing and making it's way around the news. One source says it's under category one disaster for the state.

I am Indiana and heard about this on the
Ham radio shortly after it happened. I feel
for the injured and the families of those that
lost a loved one.

Also heard that some of the injured are
in critical condition.

Those stages are structurally sound but not for high pressure winds and it seems by the video and from the peoples hair blowing frantically and the sounds of wind passing through on the cameras view that this was indeed what happened. Ugh. Needless pain and suffering!

The CNN story has witnesses saying that a gust of wind is exactly what caused the stage to collapse.

Same exact thing happened in Canada, Ontario' Ottawa a month ago, the stage fell down while cheap trick was playing (during a 125 km wind storm), non injuring cheap trick, but now they have canceled other tour dates where the same stage company was hired to set up shop.

I forgot to post my source. All apologies.
If this one is correct, it's currently reported that five have lost their lives, and forty have been injured.

After watching several of the videos, and viewing many pics of this tragic event, I am surprised, yet thankful, that the death toll was not a much larger number.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The names of the five persons killed in the Indiana State Fair stage collapse Saturday night were released Sunday morning.

The four who died at the scene are Tammy Vandam, 42, Wanatah, Ind.; Glenn Goodrich, 49, Indianapolis; Alina Bigjohny, 23 Fort Wayne; Christina Santiago, 29, Chicago. Nathan Byrd, 51, Indianapolis, died at Methodist Hospital Sunday morning.

Some of the images that I posted, are screenshots taken from a CBS Video.

It never ceases to amaze me. If this had happened in a different country, many ATS-ers would be all over it. Screaming the outrage. Blaming whoever they can, which would mostly mean blaming the mysterious THEM. Seeing as how this tragedy of a freak accident, occurred right here in our own back yards, nobody really cares.
