Elite Debunkers on ATS have been debunking every conspiracy since they joined. Why?

I have noticed a small minority of debunkers (not naming any names) who have only one intention - to debunk every single conspiracy on ATS. This small minority of "elite" debunkers have thousands of stars and posts, all of which are dedicated to debunking at whatever cost (having checked their history of posts and threads).

It just doesn't make sense to why they would join a conspiracy site to debunk conspiracies when the only reason behind it is that they have an agenda or are paid agents by The Powers That Be (TPTB).

These elite debunkers are so perfectly well adapted to ATS and have gathered huge support from ATS users that if they were named, this thread would no doubt be attacked and ridiculed!

Just to clear things up, I don't have a problem with debunkers. But those that make it a mission to debunk/ridicule every conspiracy discussed on ATS since they have joined, is my cause for concern.

Deny ignorance.

Sometimes denying ignorance means accepting conspiracy, sometimes debunking.

While kneekjerk debunkery is just as blind as kneejerk "i wanna believe," ultimately a good skeptic adds real value to the community by pushing everyone to refine their position and bring it closer to the truth.

I agree with you but I'm only attacking those who have a history of debunking every single conspiracy since they joined ATS.

Do you wish to have your investigations tested, or merely have your beliefs confirmed? It is necessary to separate the wheat from the chaff if you want to bake bread.

There are people who still are entrenched in the Matrix and will defend the program. Others have hacked the program and realize that anything and everything is possible. Debunkers? I know that there comes a tie when you have to draw a line between reality and insanity. So I do not see helping someone realize they are completely nuts as debunking a so called conspiracy.

We know who the head debunker is on here, and yes, he does denounce EVERY single "theory" or video posted. I've been watching him for years on different forums and he seems pretty dedicated to participating in sites that debunk.

I for example do not believe in the Bible stories being literal fact. I don't believe in the white bearded man in the clouds watching all of us and punishing sinners. So that being said, the LAST place I'd want to spend hours and years of my life would be a church, or Christian websites.... so why do they do this? Some say it's a hobby..... really?

Why do you auto-debunkers bother?
Do you want to make others think like you?
Why do you care what any of us believes in?

These elite members you speak of have all earned those stars.

And now the OP is going to freak out because the thread has been moved to "Rant." Where it belongs.

These de-bunkers are out to save some 10 year old from coming across this ste and believing everything they read. Seriously, I have now been told this on at least 5 seperate occasions.

Have you noticed how the majority of de-bunkers specialise in de-bunking on one particular topic and there are 4 or 5 who will de-bunk every topic.

But hey, it's fun on occasions to watch these people tie themselves up in knots and then resort to name calling.

My beleifs confirmed would do quite nicely, thank you! AND I love people who correct spelling errors, et cetera. Like amateur english teachers....let's ignore the content of the information and concentrate on spelling!

Have I ever criticized anyone for their spelling? I always engage the substance and intent of a post, and try to find ways to communicate concepts in a way that can be understood. At least you have the self knowledge that you do not want your beliefs challenged. If that is the case, I suggest you find a forum that doesn't have "Deny Ignorance" as its motto.

No, No, I wasn't accusing YOU of the spelling complaint issue AND I did edit that out anyway. (you are just too quick!) Well I do "Deny Ignorance"! I ignore those who can't or will not realize that anything is possible.

Nah I'm cool with the thread being moved as I was not sure which section I would post this thread in.

Why are you trying to judge my reaction?

100% speculation, and nothing else. Unless someone has told you, then you cannot know for sure the reasons that caused any member to join the site.

I will share an example that has caused me to reflect on the whole issue a lot for the past few days.

Anyways, this guy was trying to say that a 1.6 uSv reading on rainwater was caused by coal power plant pollution (he is trying to protect the nuclear industry and cover up Fukushima fallout), but check this out.

He actually linked me to a source that told me the amount of radiation that coal plant pollution causes on average, .03 mrem per year.

Well I went and dug up some sources and started doing the calculations.

1.6 uSv per hour = 14,016 uSv per year
.03 mrem per year = .0000034 mrem per hour = .000034 uSv per hour

So I asked him, how does 1.6 uSv translate into .000034 uSv per hour? It doesn't.

The coal power plant pollution radiation levels are roughly .000034 uSv per hour in any given location randomly according to the debunkers own sources.

Yet he was claiming it was responsible for something 40,000 times higher in value.

Don't you see how this lie worked?

Then he came back and tried to correct my math, and all of his math was wrong, he didn't use a calculator.

I showed ALL my math, sources, and gave explanations.

The reading of 1.6 uSv is over 40,000 higher than the coal pollution's average reading. There is no way in hell coal power plants are responsible. It must be something like Fukushima.

So you can see why they lied outright multiple times, provided fake math, etc.

This guy could have been your average person who didn't know what they were talking about, but consider the extreme coincidental nature of his false claims serving the nuclear industry agenda to cover up anything bad that they cause and blame it on the coal power industry (super typical tactics around here these days).

I was being skeptical of his bs, and thus debunked him.

Who's next?

The debunkers are really closet believers waiting for the nugget of proof that never comes. Just kiddin'. Kind of.

Some of the so-called "debunkers" are obviously idiots. Maladjusted malcontent trolls. Just as some of the "believers" are.

But the best of the debunkers are truly your--and my--friend! They champion critical thinking and encourage it in others.

They make us smarter…and a better community. If there were no debunkers here this would truly be a waste of time.

What I'm wondering is: Have any of the ATS debunkers of past/present changed their viewpoints any? As in became more openminded as a result of their interaction here?

I have long held a grudge with the auto-debunkers.

I have lingered on this site for 5-6 years and participated over the last year.

I started visiting this site out of my interest for conspiracy subject matter. I consider myself to be well educated but still enjoy entertaining the possible 'alternate theories'. Therefore, I like to discuss these raised theories at length on this discussion board, however, to my frustration, some CoD player hijacks the thread with a wiki link that took him 3 seconds to google and demands the thread be moved or locked. If this was not enough, he/she feels the need to chant 'deny ignorance' to illustrate his solidarity for something that this site stands for and then moves to the next thread.

Essentially, the OP of that thread may have made a claim that was not 'water-tight' but any further discussion of any other possibilities concerning that claim are then discouraged by the tone of the afore-mentioned auto-debunker with the classic "move along, move along, nothing to see".

If we are not to feel welcome in discussing some of the subject matter on this site, why don't we just suggest that we abolish the ability for members to post and just limit them to poll's?

I do not blame the staff of ATS for this, I blame the ugly trend of the 'first to debunk gets a cookie' crew.

It is counter-productive to discussing the possibilites of such alternate theories, so as such, I urge those that recognise themselves as an 'auto-debunker' to change their ways and instead of trying to be a smart *ss, next time, challenge the claim by asking questions, therefore generating more discussion.

Regards, Skellon.

Sorry if people understand things better than yourself

Its all very well calling us debunkers, but we add huge amounts of information which would otherwise be left out to explain these things.
