I actually carried a Para Nighthawg, .45. I ditched it. Here's why:

1) the short barrel is a whore. I had 6 misfeeds in 6 mags last trip to the range. I'm not a little guy (195 lbs), and I've put about 50,000 rounds downrange in my lifetime, so I know that misfeeds in high caliber weapons can be caused by limp-wristing it. This is not the case. I've sent that handgun back to Para TWICE, I'm still waiting to get it back because of:

2) after a few mags, the takedown/slidelock will slip a few mm causing the slide to not lock back after the last round is fired. This happened to me 3 times. I disassembled and reassembled at the range after each instance with the same result.

The gun is NOT reliable as a CC and I will not carry it. When it comes back from Para I'm selling it.

EDIT: my current carry is a Sig P229. always reliable in the field, I've trusted my life to it before and will continue to.

I had the P10 prior to the Warthog and I just checked my logs

Over 6000 rounds with not even one stovepipe, no jams, nothing but flawless function

The Warthog now has over 500 rounds through it and it has yet to hiccup

Far as I'm concerned, they are perfect

Sorry you had such bad luck

Semper

Maybe I just got a bad one, but nonetheless... not something I want to bet my life on.

I guess I was wrong
(about black powder running out) My ignorance has just been eliminated thanks to your post, now I'm gonna go read where to find that stuff naturally, and where it's most abundant. Thanks!

from what i understand gun jams and misfeeds depend on a couple of things

proper maintence and the right type of ammunition.

not all ammo is created equal

I originally got the NightHawg because a friend of mine had a custom run from Para for his sheriff's dept. and he swore by it. I trust that lumpy beer drinking maniac, so I went out and put down the $$ because the 10+1 in a .45 slim carry looked really sexy.

What it did on the range was poop itself in my hands. I used standard Federal ammo, no reloads, standard para mags. I'm $800 disappointed.

Give you 500 for it

I WOULD carry my HKP2000, but the factory mags don't seat snugly and it wiggles in your hand after the first round is fired. I know, it's silly, but it's annoying. I do still keep it in the nightstand, though, and it's a fine weapon otherwise. I should just add some silicon to the mag, but I'm lazy.

Where I live, weather determines what you wear, and what you wear determines what you carry. I like the NightHawk because it was easily concealable with a paddle holster (I hate ITB). I carry my sig "mexican" (disclaimer: that is not a racial epithet or a derogatory term). OTB with an un-tucked shirt.

if I'm going into a bad part of town I double carry with a .38 special on my ankle.

I do love my Sig GSR C3, but hate the limited 7+1

But it is accurate and reliable and definitely my second go to gun

When i double carry, which is only on night duty, I carry the Para on my ankle and my Glock 22 on my side or the Sig depending if I'm on the clock or not

Nice load out.

I see a Glock 17 there in the holster. I have that in a tac vest (17c).

I have an XM15E with Trijicon optics, an M1-A that I need to buy a new stock for, and my baby: my Charter Arms .44 spcl. Never thought I'd fall in love with a revolver but I have, and she has a name: Heidi.

I really do need to go hunt for some new handguards for my XM-15, that gas piston factory junk is... junk. It comes with 3 mounts but they're too far forward for comfort.

semperfortis,

I know admiral Isoroku Yamamoto likely didn't say:

"You cannot invade the mainland United States.
There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass."

But he should have.
