Curious About Death

"I used to obsess about what happens when this door closes,
this notion of death my mind always poses.

Will I disperse into the realm of nothingness,
or see my soul experience everything but loneliness?

Will I stand before the throne of the Ultimate Reality,
or be thrown into a stadium filled with inequity?

Will He judge me by my kindness and compassion to others,
or flame and condemn me with sinful covers?

Will I be like an ant standing before a giant's feet,
or similar in proportion to the deity that I meet?

Will I need to believe and love in my Saviour to be,
in order to enter Heaven with my divine key?

If black cold nothingness is what I stand to encounter,
concern and worry are simply futile counters.

For now death is no longer a skydiver's parachute that failed to open,
but rather a conversation between cactuses in the desert about the ocean."

A poem I wrote that deals with the subject of Death and all the mystery surrounding what happens when we leave this life. I hope others can relate to this poem and share their own.

I would give it about a C if I were grading it.

It expresses your point about curiosity but doesn't do so with any feeling and doesn't flow naturally as a good poem should. Seems more like bullet points of questions instead of a desire to understand.

Thanks for your constructive criticism. Grades mean little to me, although I do hope readers find the poems somewhat interesting and relative to their own feelings.

I offer for for your reflection a simple question; Are you as curious about where you were before you were born, as about where you may (metaphorically) 'go' after your body dies?

Logic can tell us "nothing" to satisfy your curiosity... there is no data forthcoming. Some take "nothing" as 'the' answer; many hold that such an answer only reveals honest ignorance.

Traditional spiritual wisdom offers us that it is simply a continuation of the journey, a nexus which may or may not involve a decision and a judgement to be levied.

Either way, I humbly offer that your curiosity is well-received, as many lack it.

Here is a thought and a question:
If an atheist should die a painful death,
does he cry out to God when the devil begins biting at his ass?

To the OPs named Dark Ghost I write
And its a a tale we all recite

Your thoughts of death are clear to know
No curve balls now will I ever throw

For death is sleep, and sleep is deep
A world of peace where life will cease

But think of it as if a tree
This example will certainly make you see.

I seen a tree the other day,
It had a leaf the wind would sway

I then watched as the wind blew cold
That leaf became a beauty, behold

Its color went from green to gold
to orange and brown, the colors bold

But then it fell down to the dirt
and suddenly I knew something hurt

That leaf laid down, in the light of day
Not to sprout or thrive, but to decay

And now comes this, a sad true fact
You are that leaf, nothing more than that.

You may be green and standing tall
But make no mistake, you too will fall

And on the ground you will decay
Perhaps not tomorrow, but yes, one day

So ponder not for extended time
The day inevitable, or even this rhyme

Because for now you are alive
Your branch is strong, your leaf will thrive

Contemplate not the dirt below
Its time to sing, its time to blow

And when the time come and you fall
You enrich the ground so the tree grows tall.

If I de, and suddenly meet a devil whom starts biting my arse, I will call out to God, Jesus, Muhammed, Superman, Aqua Buddha, Charlie Sheen, etc. and keep going through the list until someone shows up.

Star and flag fr you Ghost, simply for being brave and honest enough to put this out here.

Many are curious about the afterlife, as am I, but I believe that there really is no answer that will staisfy everyone. My advice is to find the answer that satisfies you, and chances are that is the truth, becsause your soul wouldnt let you believe what wasnt true, for you.
