the so called "hecklers" was a plant by liberals who were trying to bait romney they were from some crap called a "liberal think tank"

After you blame this on liberals, you say that it's easy to twist videos..I assumed you were saying liberals are the ones twisting the video to fit their agenda...
When, in fact, Fox News, the news site that gets the most visits by conservatives, was the site that twisted this video to fit their agenda first.

You DO know that Romney isn't the most "conservative" conservative out there. That makes him a target inside his own party. Bad policy. The GOP needs a moderate and the best one they have is Romney. Go with a hard liner. You'll lose to Obama. It's the Centrist vote that counts. Play to it.

As usual Romney's comments are taken out of context. Yeah, he said, "corporations are people", but if you listen to the whole thing the comment was in response to one of the liberal hecklers and he went on to make it clear he was talking about the people who work for the corporations and the people who own them. You liberals don't seem to understand if you have any kind of private retirement then you probably are a stockholder in some of the biggest corporations. There's a lot to criticize about Romney but this kind of stuff just makes the liberals who post it look stupid,,,,,errr......stupider.

Romney is technically correct. That's what the word "incorporation" means--to become corporal. The whole idea was to create a legal entity that had the status of a person in and of itself, as opposed to a sole proprietorship, for example, which is owned by a single person.

But that's not what Romney meant. He was responding to the idea that we ought to "tax corporations" because they are fould and evil and all that. What he maybe should have said was that corporations don't pay taxes; people pay taxes. Taxing a corporation simply means the corporation passes those taxes along in the price of its products. If they buy a coporate widget for $100, 40% of that may represent taxes the corporation pays, but the consumer never knows that. Besides which, dividends paid by corporations to shareholders are fully taxable as are all the salaries the corporation pays to its employees.

So when people say, "Tax those rich corporations!" what they are really saying is, "Please tax corporations so that the tax is hidden and I can pretend it isn't there."

Disclaimer: I am not a Romney fan and will not support him in the primaries.

That is the problem. The reason corporations act so evilly is that they CANNOT be held to the same standard as real people. Think about that.

Corporations do not intentionally act so "evilly" . Officers can spend the rest of their lives in prison if they are shown to intentionally cause great harm.

You have a sick and twisted view of life if you think that corporations form with the intent of harming society.

Admit it -- the reason you don't like to equate corps to real people is that it is much easier to HATE and condemn a faceless entity than a real person.

Well the left wing here on ATS has already started, with their childish comments about 'magic underwear'.

Oh, if that were only true! The man is too dumb to do the right thing. He still thinks he is a messiah. Although there are still some people here who still support him....

according to Supreme court rulings too

Well, I always thought that the SCOTUS based their ruling off of congresses definition of a person.

Where is your brilliant pops?

He's here.

It was the courts interpretation of law, bill of rights and constitution that created the concept of corporate personhood. The idea of common law's "stare decisis" en.wikipedia.org...
ensured that the each ruling had a cumulative effect to create a bigger and better version of corporate personhood.

but one only needs to check the founding fathers ideas to see this idea is a distortion

In the United States, corporations were recognized as having rights to contract, and to have those contracts honored the same as contracts entered into by natural persons, in Dartmouth College v. Woodward, decided in 1819. In the 1886 case Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad, 118 U.S. 394, the Supreme Court recognized that corporations were recognized as persons for purposes of the Fourteenth Amendment.[1][2]
Contents

The notion of corporations as persons

As a matter of interpretation of the word "person" in the Fourteenth Amendment, U.S. courts have extended certain constitutional protections to corporations. Opponents of corporate personhood seek to amend the U.S. Constitution to limit these rights to those provided by state law and state constitutions.[3]
Others argue that corporations should have the protection of the U.S. Constitution, pointing out that they are organizations of people, and that these people shouldn't be deprived of their human rights when they join with others to act collectively.[4] In this view, treating corporations as "persons" is a convenient legal fiction that allows corporations to sue and to be sued, that provides a single entity for easier taxation and regulation, that simplified complex transactions that would otherwise involve, in the case of large corporations, thousands of people, and that protects the rights of the shareholders, including the right of association.
Some have argued in court that corporations should be allowed to refuse to hand over any incriminating documents due to the Fifth Amendment right given to people to not have to incriminate themselves; in one case "Appellants [suggested] that the use of the word "taxpayer" several times during the course of the regulations requires a construction that the fifth amendment self-incrimination warning be given to a corporation."[5] However the court did not agree in that 1975 case.

Yes, and the YouTube has "Think Progress" on it, which is liberal
. As for the "corporations are people" plug, Im inclined to think he meant that people run the corporations. Corporations are not some separate entity. People work in them. A corporation is anything from a factory which produces toothbrtushes to a steel foundry which makes metal castings for all sorts of things. My Dad in fact owned a foundry. And you know what? People loved him. He had 401K, profit sharing, health benefits, turkeys at Thanksgiving, and hams at Christmas. After he sold the company the Unions moved in to try and unionize it. They came with picket signs and everything
all three of them (lol)

It is really something to watch liberals and communists attacking corporations as evil beings. I'd like to see them all throw away their computers, toothbrushes, cars, lamps, garden hoses, and everything else made by a corporation.
Perhaps they all imagine a world where everyone makes their own earthenware pottery to use over their open hearth oven which must be kept going with wood chopped down from trees, oh wait, there goes that plan of being carbon-free....

what is really funny Horus, is seeing corporatists complain about the government, its agenda and size and fail to
see that corporations are the most represented in Washington, more so than socialists or real Americans alike...
Meanwhile individuals are under represented because most of us have to work and can't afford a lobbyist, gifts
or large campaign perks and contributions. So what you, NEO and most forget to recognize is that this agenda
that you hate is sought after by corporate interests, they bank roll the campaigns and are the ones who have the
time and clout to court lawmakers.

Corporations are not beings, they are a legal creation intended to shield the individual/s from legal repercussions,
which in turn makes risk less risky. However granting them personhood IS abhorrent to our nation, its ideas and our founding principles. Rome already danced with the Oligarchy, why do you invite the same and then pretend to love American principle?

OK to be fair, I am not enjoying the power that corporations have as lobbyists at Washington, or that Monsanto is represented while ruining our food supply with GMO. That is the far end of corporatism. This does not however mean that all corporations are evil by nature just by being incorporated. You can have 25 employees and still be incorporated. Just like the mom and pop grocery store on the corner has a tiny monopoly on the several blocks of its territory. That is called competitive monopoly. Size is really relative. And that is why when people attribute arbitrary sizes to such things as income, it really is a skewed way of seeing things.
