The lawsuit was filed because the Musuem (on private property) was "partly" financed by the Government (who gave a grant to get the program started).

Pure Atheist ignorance.

You get government funding - - you fall under government law.

Simple.

Cool beans.

Supreme Court (government) has ruled that Atheism is a religion.

So lack of symbology would be representing the lack of a belief.

Or we could go with what the 1st Amendment ACTUALLY says.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

See there?

Congress did not make any laws, and by letting the people be, they are not prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

You do know there are quite a few symbols the atheists use. So if there were nothing there it would not show a lack of belief in anything.

The Darwin fish this seems to be the popular one now

My whole point is that it doesn't matter which religion is paying respects to the dead. They're still paying respects for the dead.

No they are not, nor are their actions deserving of any respect.

Respect is not bowing to the whims of those propagandizing their religion at hot spots. Respect is NOT making everyone look at a cross when they visit the WTC.

Maybe preserving liberty is an "intellectual" thing to you but I'm sorry, it doesn't look like you recognize them let alone how to preserve them.

they could put up warning signs for you people!!!

DANGER WILL ROBINSON!

or you guys just not go near the place.

i think we can get along fine without you "preserving our liberties" for the rest of us.

start working on the patriot act instead of this.

In the lawsuit filed by American Atheists, the group claims that enshrinement of a steel cross found amid the rubble of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the 9/11 Memorial and Museum is a violation of separation of state.

The terrorist attacks were not against Christianity, but against America, the group argues. So its members are calling for the cross to be removed or be accompanied by other symbols valued by a wide spectrum of Americans.

www.christianpost.com...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seems pretty clear to me - - who's in the right.

The terrorist attack was not against Christians - - but against America.

America should be represented by many beliefs - - as that is what America is all about - - - not one specific religion.

funny how the cross was there tho and not a walking fish.

an act of god maybe or a coincidence?

either way, no one made it. so they don't have a lawsuit.

Well hope it scares the Hell out of them.

At least then they will stand a chance in the afterlife.

Cool go make a star of david out of debris and put it up. Same for the other religions.

The cross has significance to the museum and should stay. It's also stupid to assume that just because a cross is shown at the site that it represents one religion. We don't need symbols to pray to. Let me remind you of that.

Okey, I'm puzzled by something. I get the atheists up set about the "cross" that happened when the towers came down, but my question is this. Will there be someone there with a gun forceing people to look at the cross? If not, I don't see the problem, if you don't want to look at it, don't. Simple.

Did any think that...

Christians are being blamed after viewers of a Fox News program logged onto the news network's Facebook page and left violent and threatening comments for a representative of an atheist group

Atheist and Christians are being trolled once again on facebook?

People still trust the internet

I have to chime in on this. This is stupid. For all the liberals out there thinking they're being intellectual for trying to take down a effing cross from the WTC you're stupid. I mean that in the best way I can. Seriously though a symbol of respect is a symbol of respect.

When I'm in a Muslim mosque I'm respectful. When I'm in any place of worship I'm respectful. These are places of worship and mean something to these people. They represent a basic higher power. Regardless of which one it is.

Another example is that I respect the flags of different countries. It's the same concept. This story isn't about putting up other religious symbols it's about a group of idiotic intellectuals (who aren't intellectual at all) who want to get rid of the Christian cross at the WTC.

My whole point is that it doesn't matter which religion is paying respects to the dead. They're still paying respects for the dead.

How is a cross a symbol of respect? It isn't it's a symbol of religion. If it is just a symbol of respect then why are all the Christians getting so po'd about the atheist wanting it taken down? Because it's a symbol of religion not respect. The sooner people learn America is not a Christian nation the sooner we can quit having lawsuits like this.

Dumbest argument ever. And someone always uses it.

The cost of putting this cross in is being paid by government tax dollars. That violates separation of church and state.

I have the right not to pay for a religious symbol.

Because they want to take down a symbol of respect to the people who lost their lives at the WTC?? If it's a symbol of respect (it is) and people want to take it down, it's disrespectful. The end.

As to how it's a symbol of respect. It's a symbol of respect because it is honoring the dead. I mean why else would it be there? For lulz? No.

And I have a right not to pay for no religious symbol.

It is circular logic that could easily be avoided if everyone would just follow what the Constitution actually says, instead of snipping out sections to use for their agenda.

The cost of putting this cross in is being paid by government tax dollars. That violates separation of church and state.

So it violates a non-Constitutional writing, when removing it, violates the Constitution itself.

You are wrong.

I don't even need proof of that. I just know it.

Edit: Dunno what we are arguing about, but you wanted to argue, so I will make the opening statement that you are wrong.

That isn't an argument. How am I wrong? Prove it.

I like to think I made a good argument.

Edit: Oh I see what you did there. Very well.
