President Ahmadinejad Deplores Suppression of Protesters in Britain

english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9005196109

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad strongly criticized London for its brutal suppression of protesters, specially in recent days, and called on the British authorities to correct their attitude towards people's demands.

"I advise them (British authorities) to correct their brutal behavior since such a brutal attitude is totally unacceptable," President Ahmadinejad told reporters at the end of a cabinet meeting here in Tehran on Wednesday.

Britain's politicians should give the people the freedom and chance to participate in their society's affairs, the Iranian president went on saying, and added that Britain should deal with the problems of its own people instead of launching military attacks on other states like Afghanistan and Libya.

He also asked all European leaders to listen to their people's demands, and stated, "I'm concerned about a social outburst in the West and I am concerned that the outburst happens so badly that no one can control it."

Here's the bigger question...
If the UK accepted their offer...
Would Iran still be so willing to send those peacekeepers????

Ya know its one thing to make broad grand statements like this, just for the sake of good PR...
but what if they had to put up or shut up.....

i bet you they would, just not to keep the peace (for long)

nice trojan horse lol

thats a good idea to receive some international help if the situation worsens.

I think Iran should send some troops to USA to protect the citizens from police brutality which is on the rise...

Remember, there is no government like no government.

He's just making himself appear a total plank, even if he is taking the piss.

He shows a total lack of understanding as to who is rioting, the "why" and the Police response. It was hardly "brutal"....

What's even worse is that people here on ATS not only applaud him, but agree with him... (mostly from outside the UK I bet too....)

Jeebus..

Hell yeah!

Iran did such a great job of brutally crushing, er I mean ending their own riots, they would be great peacekeepers in the UK.

Have you ever been on the dangerious end of British opression? I have. I have had a British forces soliders jump out at me on the way home from school, search us and our bags for no reason, just jumped out and held guns to our head and searched, we were children then. I also had British soliders point a LIVE gun at me and pretend to shoot me in the head, I was in the back of my parents car with them, and my grandparents, they don't give a toss about anybody they are opressing.

All the time, you are guilty just because of where you live.

So please, don't lecture ME on the right and wrongs of the British Empire.

Don't you think that's EXACTLY what he means?

"We'd quell that little uprising of yours taking a week already within a day"

Can't say i disagree to that

i just dont agree on actually doing it the way they would want to.

Not quite the same is it?

Libya shoots protesters dead..

UK police chastised for not being tough enough...

Not true at all, when unrest hit Libya, it was in Benghazi, the first day of unrest Libyan police were criticized for being too soft when thugs started attacking police, burning and looting government buildings. In that first day of unrest, more than 10 police were injured, and only 4 protesters. So please get your facts right. There is no difference, it is only semantics. I know it hurts to have the same pile of garbage being thrown in your lawn, the same garbage you threw on someone else's lawn, but that doesn't justify denial.

No, he isn't right. Not even in the slightest! They are not "deprived". How exactly are they deprived when organising their looting via their iPhones and Blackberries?

This is just a cheap and obvious propoganda shot by Iran.

No, he is right, do you think it is a coincidence that the unrest began in one of the poorest neighbourhoods?

I never lectured you on anything, keep your panties on.

At any rate, I've been on the recieving end of Irish terrorism, but I don't bleat about it constantly or hold it against any Irishman at all. What a bitter person you must be to hate the British for what a few squaddies did, if they even did it (quite convenient you have a story to fit the thread, hey?)

Plenty of Libya threads knocking about which I have participated in, not the topic here so won't dwell.

On the other point though, where are you from? Ever been to the UK, or these London boroughs? Know the area's well I presume? You know the social make up of the UK and know what a Chav is, I presume?

There is no "poor" in the traditional sense, these kids familes will have money, mostly provided by the state and a rent free home, new car loans and shiny big TV's. These kids are just the product of piss poor discipline at home and a total lack of respect for anyone while demanding the very same for themselves. Most would have made no effort at school, yet blame their subsequent failure to get on in life on "the system", or just don't make the effort knowing full well that the state will look after them...

You're aware of the Chav culture, yes?

Can Iran send boats full of aid and so on for those areas?

Let's see if they get a blockade

As Purpledog just said - I think Iran is trolling us for the lulz.

I mean didn't we do the same to them? I know the protesting was for a different reason in Iran, but I find this cheeky and funny.

Wow wait a minute

A blackbarry costs you the same amount as a month worth of food costs you if you eat LAVISHLY.

These punks are just grabbing excuses to get the latest goodies and sneakers. If they would really be rioting because of how poor they are they would be raiding grocery stores and food warehouses, not footlocker, the phone house, and sony's european distibution centre.

Can't blame Iran for playing politics with the truth.

Once again, I'll reiterate my previous point which you completely disregarded. Do you think it is a coincidence that the unrest began in one of the poorest areas? Since you don't want to talk about Libya, even though just couple of seconds ago you were eager to do so, the least you could have done was to reply to the actual point that I made.

I did, go back and read it...

I clearly referrenced the point you made and countered it with not only a statement from me, but also questions of my own, which you have ignored.

Meanwhile these same people complaining and also rioting completely ignore the real poor in Haiti, Africa, South and Central America and virtually all over the world. The rioters have nice clothes, the internet, food and all kinds of handouts. It's not like they dont know about this they just dont care.

I am at the poverty level myself but since HS i gave money through a charity to those worse off than myself and all i can afford isnt much. I'm guessing these people dont give # because then they would know how good they have it.

Same here, i lost my job 2 yrs ago and live under nominal income by far.

Not able to get a job because of the economics.

Yet i can pay my rent, eat, sleep, keep me warm, and take a daily shower, hell, i even have a 120Mbit internet connection, all because of our unemployment benefits (damn socialism sux....)

What more do you need?

The west is spoiled to the bone and doesnt even realise it.

It is kind of nauseating. I dont see many homeless people out there looting if at all. What we see are fairly well dressed, well fed, cell phone carrying ingrates. My situation is partly my fault and i know this but i dont begrudge people who work hard and become successful of course we all know things aren't fair but at least we have a chance and roofs over our heads. There are people really with no hope whatsoever and they are just forgotten. These people rioting would walk over a homelss person if they dont roll him first.

People in some countries live on the amount of food most of these people throw in the trash.
