I originally was posting this elsewhere but I think it deserves its own thread.

If you know of songs that became eerily prophetic - would love to hear them
Now I have to go digging see what else I can find

ETA: Everything he sang about in this song near 20 years ago came true.
Thats what I'm looking for ♥

1993 - Jesus Jones: Zeroes and Ones

Across the world - the message flies
Information, TRUTH AND LIES
It's all yours and its all mine
You just have to find the time

We're all the same
We share the Blame
We play the games

If its yes or no, the decision is easy
Its easy

Zeroes and ones will take us there

This time the revolution
Will be Computerised
You'll know it as you do it
In REAL TIME before your eyes

Slip between - realities
There's more to this than anything
that you or I can see

The world is mine
The world is yours
And here's the cause

Zeroes and Ones will take us there

I've stared into the heart of it all
seen the pictures on the wall
the beat of a heart
The oceans part and the patterns in my mind

This time, we've split the world once more
There's those that have and that don't
in information wars

We're not alone cause all is known
and its EVERYWHERE - its everywhere

Zeroes and Ones will take us there

Wow man - considering recent events in the UK
you're absolutely right - this was released in February

February 2011 - Take That: Kidz

While everything else in the song is about the current state of affairs
the idea of "trouble when the kids come out".... its not that big a stretch ♥
Thank you!

2004 - Kaiser Chiefs: I predict a riot

Right on!
Lyrics edited for content

Watching the people get lairy
Is not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
And not very sensible either

A friend of a friend he got beaten
He looked the wrong way at a policeman
Would never have happened to Smeaton
An old Leodensian

I predict a riot (x4)

I tried to get to my taxi
A man in a tracksuit attacked me
He said that he saw it before me
Wants to get things a bit gory

Girls scrabble around with no clothes on
To borrow a pound for a condom
If it wasn't for chip fat, they'd be frozen
They're not very sensible

I predict a riot (x4)

And if there's anybody left in here
That doesn't want to be out there

Watching the people get lairy
Is not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
And not very sensible

I predict a riot (x4)

And if there's anybody left in here
That doesn't want to be out there

Great song OL! bonus points for Jerry too

I read the lyrics though, seems like they were talking about "then"
What do you think about them is true today? This might belong in my "Peace Sells but who's Buying?" thread ♥

Stars for everyone! I appreciate your contributions - I'm still digging

though I did always find this quite prophetic (long instrumental, short lyrics)

1984 - Prince: Computer Blue

Where is my love life - where can it be? there must be something wrong with the machinery
Where is my love life - where has it gone? somebody please please tell me what the hell is wrong

Till I find a righteous one - Computer Blue

Yeah thats all of them

Check out Iron Maiden. Their songs and lyrics say alot, especially their new album, The Final Frontier. Check out the song, "When The Wild Wind Blows." Many people aren't good in Symbology. I've been studying it since 1990, so I'm quite good at deciphering song meanings (tho the above mentioned song speaks for itself really) and especially Dreams, which is my strong point.

Anyway, yeah, check out Maiden's songs and their lyrics, and finally study their concert stage setups, especially their World Slavery Tour (1984-85) where there's so much Symbolism in their stage setup it'll amaze you! Of course they say it's just an Egyptian Theme. By the way, the same stage setup for the World Slavery Tour was also used in the more recent Somewhere Back In Time World Tour, which ran 2008-2009.

I'm a HUGE fan of Maiden, so I don't mind the Symbolism, which also delves into other areas, which is when I do mind. It's all what you do with the knowledge. Will you use it for good and spread Light, or will you lurk within the shadows?

Up The Irons!

Everyone needs compassion
A love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me

Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

I know a lot of Maiden songs from the 80's - I grew up in the 80's

They do speak often of "prophecies" - though I can't think of any that came true yet
you have one example? I'll be happy to post the video and the lyrics if you can tell me the name

Great song - incredible message

I think people are missing my point

I'm looking for prophecies that came true ♥

Example: In the Jesus Jones song from near 20 years ago, he talks about "computerized revolution" and how we'd all be "connected" and fighting the "truth and lies" in the "information war" and how we'd all witness it in "real time"

well, as long it doesn't end up being Revelations.

LOVE me some Maiden. I've seen them every tour since Piece of Mind, even when Bruce wasn't in the band.

i would imagine that there are probably countless death metal songs (you know, songs by those bands with logos you can't read. lmao) that have ended up coming true. those guys are always screaming about death, war, famine, pestilence (actually, i think that IS a band name... not sure if i read the logo correctly. heh), politics, fascism, riots and general hell on earth type stuff. seems like that all is pretty much covered in the "come true" department. :-|
