Well i'm fascinated. I'll keep following this one.
Like I said before 'Don't Panic' keep a clear head and leave fear for when/If there is something to be afraid of.

dogs (canis familiaris)
    hearing 67 - 45,000 hz.
    Olfactory membrane 150 sq cm.

house cat (felis domesticus)
    Hearing 100 - 60,000 hz.
    Olfactory membrane 14 sq cm

humans (Homo Sapiens)
    Hearing 64 - 23,000 hz.
    Olfactory membrane 4 sq cm.

Most house pets can hear in a much higher frequency range than we can.
A sustained high pitch sound can be quite irritating to them,
while simultaneously we humans are unable to hear it.

Do tell! God, I hope not, I have enough to deal with without Dark Overlords getting all up in my business, you know?

Talking to myself about how scary it would be if
I had an alien experience. When all of the sudden
a very hostile alien or Demon pounded at my door really
hard that the door vibrated. And the alien or demon made
a sound like a raptor calling out. The dog was so scared
that he was crying and pawing at the cage wanting out of the cage.
And I was so scared after that. That I didn’t want to talk about aliens again that night.
It was the most horrifying experience I’ve ever had. And to this day I’ve never forgotten it.

My dog just got up out of the bed never done
this before. Started barking..

My bird started squeaking this horrible sound.

My dog keeps staring out the window like it can sense something..

I;m glad someone else had this happen and can relate

do you live in the same area as op?

My cat is just fine.

What about other dogs on the street. Are they barking as well?

Sorry about the delay....I went out to investigate....and took some video of that same odd sound...like in my other thread. My nieghbor said she heard it all night. I guess I couldn't hear it because of the a/c and fans As soon as mog dog got outside the door, she looked up and started barking.I have to upload them and grab a couple hours o sleep....been up all night and work tonight too. So give me a few hours, and I'll post them here. Thanks for your input! What about the others who said thier animals were acting strange? Have they calmed down? Mine finally did, except for Heidi....she isn't howling but just whimpering and restless. Be back soon!

Gracie, thanks for the tune!

Didn't intend to reply specifically to you stealthykat! Sorry

A bit late on this, but it just stuck with me because of what my cat did yesterday!
I have a stoic big maine coon cat....By nature these cats are particularly vocal with the meows, and I only get a meow if her bowl is empty. She is usually calm collect...looks at the other hyper cat, like she is on something!
So anyway, She FREAKED out yesterday! Meowing constantly, all up in my face for hours! She never gets on my lap (prefers to lay near me) but she was all over me yesterday!
Then I get in the shower and she scares the crap out of me by popping up between the decorative curtain and clear plastic one.
She is pawing frantically and meowing with such urgency I actually thought to myself "whats that lassie, johnny is trapped in the well"!
Anyway I shut off the water thinking the house must be on fire!
Nothing was wrong...no issues, water bowl full, food bowl full.
She acted soooo weird yesterday and now she is fine...totally normal. Never in all my years with her has she acted like this...made me think I was doomed or something!

Funny, there was a few earthquakes there yesterday. Might be just the planet then.
