What is a difference between the 1992 LA riots and the 2011 England riots?

America is different. We have the thing called the 2nd amendment to the Constitution. Banning guns is like trying to ban weed for example. Guess what our prisons is filled with mostly innocent people who were caught with Weed.

to be honest, the 2011 England riot is sitll going on as of now. Right now, four civilians has been confirmed killed in the 2011 England riots so far.

A murder hunt was launched as police announced that the 26-year-old victim had died after being admitted to hospital. Three men have been run over and killed as they protected property in a second night of violence in Birmingham. The men aged 31, 30 and 21 were hit by a car in Winson Green. They were taken to City Hospital where about 200 people from the Asian community gathered. Witnesses said the men were in a group protecting their community after riot police were called into the city. Police have arrested a 32-year-old man who is being questioned on suspicion of murder following the deaths. Haroon Jahan, 21, Shahzad Ali, 30, and Abdul Musavir, 31, were taken to hospital but died from their injuries.

The London rioters were just scum looking for a new TV.

They are so stupid, they dont even know why it started. Theres no bigger social issue behind it.

That's complete nonsense.

The EU alone has 500 million people, and only 1 of the 27 countries in the EU has a higher murder rate than the US. The vast majority of countries have a murder rate at least 4 or 5 times lower than the USA.

The combined population of the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy is around 310 million ( roughly the same as the USA ), and the combined murder rate of these countries is way, way lower than the US.

The US, by Western standards, has just got a very violent culture, which is only exacerbated by the fearful, paranoid hoplophiles who only feel a modicum of safety when they have a gun in their hands.

A high crime rate is a self-perpetuating problem, because the more a crime occurs in a society, the less taboo the crime becomes, which leads to more of that same crime being committed.

In the USA, one person is murdered by guns every 58 minutes, whereas someone is murdered by firearms once every 8-9 days in the UK. Factoring in the difference in population size, you are 40 times more likely to be shot dead in the US than in the UK.

Apart from the overwhelming statistical evidence which backs up the social benefits of gun control in Western countries, guns should also be considered contemptible on a more philosophical level; they are a coward's weapon. It's so easy to kill someone else when all you need to do is just pull the trigger, and your target, dozens of yards away, gets the full impact without the shooter having to personally exert any physical force on the victim. It's such a cowardly, impersonal way to kill or injure someone else.
