I started this because ,in my opinion, this is the funniest excuse I have ever heard.

From my son ,who I just bought a bb gun for him.
My neighbor comes up and asks my son,"have you been shooting your gun towards
my pool?"
My sons response is" no I haven't,but I think some bb's got stuck inbetween my dog's
toes, and when she was outside, she flung them into your pool."
Then my neighbor replied" do you really think that could happen?"
My son's reply was"It's plausible!"
He is 9 years old.
He will make a great lawyer in the future!

My son knows that he is not allowed to eat food in bed. I was on ATS late at night (surprise surprise) and heard the unmistakeable sound of a chip bag being opened. I yelled towards his bedroom, " No eating in your room", he replied that he wasn't, I asked him what that sound was then, and after about 20 seconds of silence he said, " I'm just making my lunch for tomorrow". I started laughing so loudly I woke up my wife...and I let him get away with it for making me laugh.

hahaha that's awesome. So hard to not smile when they do stuff like that.

During our reading lesson: "Bree, you aren't following instructions."
Huge pout and a crusty look; "No - I'm following my HEART"
"Well, tell your heart to follow instructions."

ex brother in law...he was 4 at the time and had just easter egg hunted. His dad said he couldn't eat any candy until after lunch.
I saw him putting candy in his mouth... I said, "you know your dad said not to eat any candy until after lunch"
He said without skipping a beat "I am not "eating" it, I'm sippin it"!
It was kinda adorable lol!

My 6 yr old son blames his brain all the time... "but my brain keeps telling me i want candy!" Duh, lol

Not really an excuse here, Z (3 yr) came crying "mommy! O bit me!"
O (2 yrs) quickly yells in tattle tale voice "Z hurt my teeth!"

Must be the age! My kid had the same excuse around that age....My brain made me do it!
Also would say, "You need to get me help, because I cant control myself"! That one came later at about 8-9

Oh yea! That is the same thing my kiddo was doing! This phase lasted several months but I have not heard any more of that type of excuse all summer....So it seems like a passing phase, maybe a hormone leveling...I am not sure!
