Tiny Pacific isle of Niue gets Stars Wars currency

www.heraldsun.com. au

THE tiny Pacific nation of Niue is set to have Luke Skywalker emblazoned on its coins, but the money will be too valuable to spend.

The legendary film series - which has influenced literature, music, toys and popular culture for decades - will soon make its first appearance on legal tender.

The set will retail for about $450 and is expected to be hugely popular with both coin collectors and Star Wars devotees worldwide.

Only 7500 copies of each coin will be made, with the first sets to be made available in November.

Too funny. Get it quick, collectors! Star Wars currency, for real, well, kind of.

Maybe the US can think about printing their own set of Star Wars coins to help prop up their economy? The Force flows strong through the Fed, I'm sure...

Emperor Obama anyone? Imperial Credits might fetch more than $USD.

thats great, im definitely gonna have to try and get at least one
but that isn't what grabbed my attention.

twice in as many days I have found stories in the news about this island I had never heard of before, the other story was about a loud explosion heard across the island that was reported as a meteorite explosion.

ill have to find the story that was reported on the verizon wireless network when I get to a computer as my phone won't allow me to cut and paste

Here's a better article that has images. The coins look great, with a Millenium Falcon box set as well.
