Birmingham is on a knife-edge this afternoon, as everyone waits to see what fallout – if any – will follow last night’s killing of three men outside a mosque.

Shazad Hussain, Haroon Jahan and 19-year-old Musaver Ali, were hit by a speeding car that some witnesses say was going at more than 50mph. Two of the victims died at the scene and one died later in hospital. The deaths have added fears of race riots being added to the mix of violence.
