Are Solar Flares Influenced by Human Behavior?

As some may have noticed I am an Edgar Cayce fan. According to Cayce, solar flares may, at the very least, be exaccerbated by human behavior.

“The more ye become aware of thy relationships to the universe and those influences that control same, the greater thy ability to help...even as to the sun which reflects those turmoils that arise with thee; even as the earthquake, even as wars and hates, even as the influences in thy life day by day.
Then, what are the sun spots? A natural consequence of that turmoil which the sons of God in the earth reflect upon same.” Edgar Cayce Reading 5757-1

Source

The idea is not unique to Cayce.

I personally feel there are physical processes within the Sun that create the 11-yr cycle and all the rest.

However, I think there may be more. Lets look at an analogy. A person may have a heart attack for simple physical reasons, or may be susceptible to have a heart attack. We now know, that walking around angry will statistically increase our chances of having that heart attack (and sooner). Our physical health is tied to the "power" of our thoughts/emotions in some ways (that we still don't fully understand).

Going to an astronomical scale, do we have the "power" to effect the behavior of the Sun, either consciously or unconsciously? The Sun will still do it's thing, but can it be at least be effected by us?

Here is a project that seems to indicate that human consciousness can indeed effect the environment. The Global Consciousness Project.

When human consciousness becomes coherent and synchronized, the behavior of random systems may change. Quantum event based random number generators (RNGs) produce completely unpredictable sequences of zeroes and ones. But when a great event synchronizes the feelings of millions of people, our network of RNGs becomes subtly structured. The probability is less than one in a billion that the effect is due to chance. The evidence suggests an emerging noosphere, or the unifying field of consciousness described by sages in all cultures.

Global Consciousness Project

Is our consciousness having a greater effect on the environemnt than any of us realize?

Also, with all the strife in the world today, it is interesting how active the Sun has been, given the fact we think it should be going into a "quiet period"

What's your opinion?

I was always on the assumption that solar flares affect humans/living organisms.

There appears to be a direct connection between the Sun’s solar storms and human biological effect especially after an "M" class solar flare. The conduit which facilitates the charged particles from the Sun to human disturbance is the very same conduit which steers Earth’s weather through the Magnetic Field on Earth, and also through the magnetic fields around humans.

Now I do not subscribe to either, although I do lean a bit more towards the flares affecting us instead of the other way around.

Scientists do not seem to address the issue, more than likely because of an evidence factor.

It is an interesting topic either way considering our bodies have a conductivity similar to planets, stars or whatever.

S&F thanks for the thread.

YES. defintly. i read some time ago, some years that solar flares, sun storms and other stuff do influence humans...
even how we feel.

so yes

I've always thought that. This year has been crazy and there have been more solar flares/CMEs! Maybe there is a correlation between the two. There is more to this universe than meets the eye

Maybe we need to be like the Ancient Egyptians and worship Ré.

I thought the OP was asking if our behavior was influencing solar flares?

That's correct minkmouse.

On second thought, my title might have also been better stated as "Can human behavior effect solar acitivity" (i.e leading to an increase in the number of solar flares, sunspots, etc)

Hmmm, never thought about that before ... but it's interesting to consider. These things are seldom one way streets.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

Wow, that title caught me off guard! Could string theory tie(pun intended) into this?

I think you/he are on to something seriously, yet believe it's more than just the sun that's affected or involved even though it's mentioned quite a bit throughout the scriptures and specially Revelation, here are just a few of many that catch my attention in regards

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Matthew6

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together
Romans8

For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Luke17

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old..But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire
2Peter3

and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
Revelation1

I've heard it said that when something like this is expressed as a question the answer is no.

I'll go along with that answer.

I would like to offer an alternate hypothesis - but I will preface by saying it belongs under the Philosophy/Metaphysical forum. But since you asked, I believe that both human experience and the physical universe are ultimately fed by the same energy source. I'd put a hippie emote here but I don't know of one

I'm not sure how String Theory would tie into that. There's a good chance String Theory isn't even correct.

There is a nice amount of experimental evidence that seems to indicate psychic ablity is real and that there is more to consciousness than we realize. But, we just don't understand the mechanisms behind it at all, if it is real.

People like to use quantum mechanics as an analogy for how psi might work, but that's all it does - offers an analogy, with some interpretations (like time symmetric quantum mechanics, TSQM) offering better analogies than others.

Quantum Mechanics still doesn't offer a mechanism. So, all this is still quite a mystery, but experimental evidence seems to be indicating it may be a REAL mystery that needs to be solved.

I was surprised to see the popular show Through the Wormhole cover some of this. Even Michio came on and said we need to maintain an open mind to these ideas.

Anyhow, as I indicated above, all this ties back to the solar activity thing. If consciousness (or psi) effects the environment, does the effect diminish over large distances? The Global Consciousness project seems to show that it may not, or at least not at distances compared with the Earth's radius. What about at distances on par to the Earth-Sun seperation?

Of course, the same question could be asked of earthquakes, etc. Let's face it - it's real hard to imagine all this being a possibility. But, I'm also finding it hard these days to completely dismiss it as a possibility too.

alright, let me rephrase then ....

Solar acitivty IS most definitely effected by human behavior .... damn it!! Got it!

What a funny idea....I hadn't thought of that before. Makes the gears in my head spin, thinking about quantum observer effect, the electromagnetic fields the human body generates. There's a word reciprocity that comes to mind and it wouldn't surprise me if there could be a direct influence that human consciousness can have on the sun.

Never underestimate the power of intentions........
