Threads like this make me wish I could take stars away from people.
I can't believe how badly the op misunderstood the article.
Or perhaps the misunderstanding was deliberate?

Makes me wish I could give more than one star per post.

Some of the replies to this thread have been excellent.

Of course the misunderstanding was deliberate!
Kro32 is not a Liberal if you take into account the true definition of what a Liberal is.
Kro32 is a progressive leftist and I really wouldn't doubt if it is a paid shill as well.
Review its' posts and see for yourself.
It is just doing its part to smear the Ron Paul name.

Since you CHOSE to not even read or consider what he said, your real bias is showing.

He is right on this one. Everything the Federal Government takes over, they destroy. Not only that they use it to line peoples pockets and increase the costs exponentially.

Why do you think a private charity can do many times as much with a dollar?

Sad you can't see the truth because you are pushing a political agenda. Truly sad for the country so many are so controlled.

I'm not a Paul fanboy by the way. I don't actually care for him. I hate intellectual lies even more however. Paul is a genius on some topics but not qualified to be a President.

Is not the real reason you are posting this because you are supporting one of his opponents or the other Party? You already know the system is working fine as it is. You even tout the number in your OP in fact.

Honestly I'm starting to think Ron Paul is not the best polititcian. I no longer agree with his economics and I've heard that he is a Freemason / Rosicrucian. The NWO always controls all sides in any situation. Ron Paul is like the release valve

You are entitled to your opinion regardless of how wrong you are.

The Global Banking Cartel usually does control both sides. But, they don'town Ron Paul. Therere is a good reason why the state propaganda machine largely ignores Dr Paul. They hope by so doing that he will remain unknown to the masses. By marginalizing him and if need be, mischaracterizing his message their agenda will remain hiddden.

Dr. Paul threatens to out them and their covert assault on our economy. I hope with all my heart that for the sake of our individual liberty and our country's economic future that he will be our next President.

Maybe he feels as though our current laws are enough.

It is a crime to harm children.

I also disagree with such notions such as automatic sentencing. This is not applicable to our constitution.

I love the fact that this has reached the first page of ATS and there were only 6 people on here stupid enough to flag your post. You are pathetic Kro. All you ever post are things trying to piss people off. I'm no longer one of the people you have succeeded in angering. Now I just laugh at you.
If only the rest of the world were as informed and intelligent as many here on ATS, we would see the good doctor become our president.

So your kid get's abducted from a playground or somewhere and you wouldn't want every available resource to get that child back?

I find that hard to believe.

I pass those signs every day on highway 280 in California and 99.9999999999% of the time they say distracting nonsense like, "Click it or Ticket" or "Slow for the Cone Zone" or "SJ Airport:15 min, Mountain View: 25 min, Downtown San Jose: 10 min". And, a lot of the time the bulbs are burnt out and you can't even make out what they say.

So you think if the Federal Government gets involved and your kid gets abducted (assuming you were too distracted from actually watching your kid), all of a sudden the FBI, CIA, HLS, State Troopers, Every Police force in a 2000 mile radius will be involved?

Now I find that hard to believe.

Political propaganda at it's finest! This is the kind of BS that got bush a second term! Stop distorting the truth for you own personal (if not government paid) agenda. Mr. Paul is exactly correct, the Amber alert system would be a complete failure if ran federally. Not to mention the additional wire tapping privileges that would go along with this bill. ( Only with just cause of course) Ron Paul has my vote! Less government should be his slogan. Or common sense for the people. Or hell how about "deny ignorance"? Oh that one's taken, OP didn't get that memo though.

You all are missing the point. The law is successful now because it IS national law. The federal goverment made this National in 2003 and it has by all accounts been extremely successful. Had Ron Paul had his way there would not have been nearly the amount of children saved.

www.eviewsinc.com...

The bottom line is that Ron Paul voted NO on this without a better system in place or offering one of his own. This law has not brought down the government or taken away any of your rights but their are parents who can put their children to bed at night instead of visiting them at the graveyard because of this.

My God, 7 pages of rational posters putting the OP in his place; it's evident that Kro misunderstands Ron Pauls intentions and tries to twist it around (like any professional smear-campaign agent would do). But to be honest I'm not surprised, because literally every post I see from Kro involves either debunking, belittling, or deceiving other ATSers...

Seriously though, fail? Pretty epic fail imo.

Yes but now they are trying to take complete control. Up to now it's been handled by the local authority. I do understand completely. Read Paul's words as they are true. This starts getting filtered through some Fed Agency by the time the alert goes out the kid will have gray hair.

I feel they are doing their job as intended. I feel if they are to grow, they will grow on their own.
Point is, when the feds get involved, more freedom and privacy is stripped.

The feds are already involved. This vote was in 2003 and Paul did not get his wish. So you like how they are doing, as long as you do not find out how they are doing it, right?

Also this...

AMBER alerts is an alert system for missing children, make available additional protections for children and set stricter punishments for sex offenders. Two-time child sex offenders would be subjected to mandatory life sentence. The measure would make it a crime to pander visual illustrations of children as child pornography. It would increase maximum sentences for a number of specified crimes against children. It would also make it a crime to take a trip to foreign countries and engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor. It also would enlarge law enforcement’s wiretap and electronic surveillance abilities in investigations of child pornography. Reference: Child Abduction Prevention Act; Bill S 151

Okay, so if I'm reading this right, this bill makes Amber Alert have the power to give maximum sentence to guilty criminals?

Two other things I want to point out, the bold text.. No, I do not condone any kind of child pornography or child abuse, I want to make that crystal clear.
I still don't get how making it a fed program can help it at all. Sex offenders, child porn, why should it fall under amber alert?
Amber Alert was found to do one thing, locate missing children and find them, not be judge and juror.
On another note, how would they even control people who travel to other countries to do their sick business? Psych screening at airports? They want to finally make child sex in foreign countries a crime? They should start with our politicians.

WIRE TAP AND ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE ABILITIES in investigations of child pornography. It should scream something to you. It does to me.
This is more wool over your eyes as you trade your freedoms for safety that should not come with such a price.

It is already a federal program and you already said you liked how it was going.

Nice try!

The Patriot Act came after the Amber Alert.
So I'm assuming this bill passed then, giving the federal government a level of control in the Amber Alert system?

Before the Amber Alert and without the Amber Alert, they could not spy on your internet usage? Wonder how they caught all those child porn dealers in the 90s then?
Right, but the key word here is "enlarges" surveillance/wiretaps. It gives them a little bit more power.

I am still unclear what control you feel this gave them.
My bad, I should have explained. I mean I don't want the federal government slowly taking control of everything, whether that is Amber Alerts, supplying the food/water, monitoring internet usage, tracking people in vehicles, and so on.

I could just be paranoid, but I don't like the idea of the federal government being in control of too many things.
edit on 10-8-2011 by TupacShakur because: To edit my post

You are just paranoid. Nothing in the AMBER Alert system gives the government control of your water. They already control the water and that is not related at all. I still see no evidence that the AA system gives them more spying power on my internet usage. The PA does though, doesn't it?

I think people's outrage toward the government has just been bent so far out of whack that even if Obama came to your house and offered you bars of gold, you would refuse delivery out of suspicion.
