From a biological perspective, the purpose of fear is to move us to safety.

You are clearly seeking a more comprehensive definition, but the above is the root purpose.

Fear is something we learn from birth from our parents. Our parents have the wrong answers which they learned from their parents and so on and so on.

There is little you can do being born here in America or anywhere else in the civilized world in regards to fear. Everyone fears except those who learn from their own minds. Those like monks and others who have ignored fear for years or their whole lifetime. This is why they smile all the time and you are frowning.

We were constantly told what was bad and what we should avoid.

Go to school or you will become a nobody.

Dont go over there.

Dont touch that.

Dont do this dont do that.

Then we grow up and we fear everything we dont understand.

There is nothing you can do, including myself...living in the civilized world. Unless you are with likeminded people constantly and you take what EVERYONE says with a grain of salt and smile and call them stupid deep down inside.
