Despite what science-fiction movies may tell us, there is no reason for an alien race to attack us (or any other civilization) for resources. The only reason humans attack each other for resources is because we are working in a very limited space. Once you are capable of easy space-travel, you are no longer confined to limited space and limited resources. There is an unlimited amount of worlds rich in resources, worlds that have no inhabitants. There is nothing on Earth that cannot be found in abundance elsewhere in the solar-system or galaxy. There is simply no need to attack other civilizations.

So yeah...

And there are resources all over the planet, so we don't need to destroy civilizations and other countries to get those either. But Britain did it and the US continues to do it and China will be next to do it. Since there's lot of land, we can leave the ants to their own devices as well, why bother destroying anthills with Raid?

Left to our own devices, the human race has systematically gone about destroying this planet. Grab a radiation detector and educate yourself on the "benefits" of out of control nuclear reactions coupled with inept governments. Of course you could look at the monetary crisis as well or what about Brazil, the new entitlement state with Marxism/Socialism peppered with capitalist fascism, gone amock? Yeah, nobody needs resources and who cares if whole indigenous populations are wiped from the earth forever. Hey, it worked in Canada, specifically Newfoundland and you don't want to challenge me on that, there are no more Beothuks, at least not pure blooded.

Now since the human race's history is all we supposedly know, even though so much has been left out, in order to make a rational analysis based on probabilities, the breakdown could be 33% aggressive/war-like, 33% neutral, 33% peace loving and 1% so-powerful-they-don't-give-a-sh-t civilizations in the "known" universe. Now, the peace loving and neutral type civilizations are probably smart enough to know that they don't want contact with aggressive civilizations, they don't want their asses kicked, so they are probably not going to broadcast their whereabouts. Aggressive civilizations however are going to want to make new conquests and therefore are going to broadcast their location, especially if they are sufficiently advanced with the requisite weaponry. It's good bait to nail all those civilizations that think they are all that and a bar of soap, like ours!

The people (if they are people) controlling this planet are just plain stupid, we are an immature, aggressive, greedy, lying deceitful society (at least our "leaders" are to be sure). We don't even have weapons to keep an aggressive and advanced civilization away from our planet, but we're broadcasting to them to say, "come here, our leaders are stupid, eat a Joe's Soylent Green Deli, take our air and water, yehaw." If we were characters on a Star Trek episode, we'd be Klingons controlled by the Ferengi or visa vie, all the attitude and no weaponry to support it.

We want to search the stars and broadcast our location in the hopes of finding, "the girl next door" who's already got it together, knows the ropes and really puts out, but we can't even tackle our own internal problems as a civilization. A million kids go missing a year and we can't even find them, let's put our own house in order before we go and screw up someone else's.

Do a little research, it helps in at least formulating a reasonable opinion.

Those resources tend to be jealousy guarded by the cultures or nations sitting on top of them. We fight for resources because other people already have them, because we lived in a limited environment.

However, space is unlimited. As there are no resources on any planet that cannot be found anywhere else, there is no need to attack another civilization over those resources.

And yet, we've been broadcasting for almost a century but we haven't been invaded.

Because why would they need to take our air or water when such things can be found anywhere else? Why would they want to eat us? If they are sufficiently advanced, they would not need to turn us into food; they could more easily make their own.

I'm still laughing because some people believe that there is any *thing*, on any planet, that isn't abundant everywhere else.

Here's a thing.
I am not a qualified physicist, but I have read about particles in relation to quantum entanglement, whereby two particles can be separated by immense distances, and an effect on one can cause corresponding effects on the other in near real time. This could form the basis of an interstellar communication system.
All our et friends would have to do is drop off one of the communication devices with us, keep the other, and we could chew the fat till the cows come home.

Why would that be even noticeable? That explosion was nothing compared to what the Sun puts out in a micro-second. You can barely see the Sun from Pluto. How would creatures from another solar-system even notice we used an atomic weapon?

There are a lot of methods employed by SETI researchers, not just simply listening for a signal. There is optical SETI and projects that have looked for signs of astronomical engineering.
