WASHINGTON (AP) - Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld conceded Tuesday that a new, powerful intelligence director could bring "some modest" improvements to efforts to safeguard the nation but warned that any changes must not hurt the flow of information to military commanders.

I still haven't made up my mind about this move. On one hand, this new position could provide a central clearing house for all of the nation's intelligence. On the other hand, which Rumsfeld suggests, this position could actually slow down the flow of information in getting where it needs to go since all the info would go to a central place before being distributed out to other agencies. What do you think about this?
