So.... if the other object(s) are pacing along with this "comet", then we may have a chance of an impact at the end of October or beginning of November. Time to party it up!

No, because the orbit of comet Elenin isnt "flat", but inclined slightly, and the earth will pas "over" that line of debris.

With respect, i think the wealth of supporting, circumstantial evidence for something particularly nasty heading our way is all around us, and i'm not talking about the economy.
Russia has been busy for the last year or so building many thousands of bunkers / shelters for it's citizens, 5000 originally, and now the word is they want more built.
The USA is doing the same, although i fear not specifically for the citizenry, and stockpiling $Billions worth of food and supplies. A US company named ARC who specialise in building military grade bunkers for the well heeled public, have a backlog of orders for their product spanning several years. Even if you had the money, they couldn't build you a bunker.
Norway has built Arctic seed vaults, buried into mountain sides to store and protect our planets fauna diversity, which obviously alludes to a expected or possible destruction of existing fauna (plants and vegetation)
In the UK, a few years ago £10 Million was spent 'upgrading' the bunker beneath Downing Street, and many other highbrow figures were spending similar amounts to build their own bunkers. No word about public bunkers for UK citizens.
Add to this recent discoveries in space borne objects, as per this thread and it makes for a particularly worrisome scenario, especially with those of us with young a family.
People need to make the distinction between so called scaremongering, which does go on a lot here and forewarning, there's a big difference between the two. The above countries certainly feel there is need to expend significant resources, and that doesn't usually happen in response to unfounded scaremongering voices, if anything it's enacted on hard scientific evidence.
Being scared might save your life. Being complacent probably won't.
To say 'there's nothing we could do anyway' is a fallacy. Knowing the facts in a timely manner would enable survival supplies to be gathered, shelters to be constructed, and population relocation from potential or predicted impact zones to be carried out without a last minute dash for life.
Hopefully, this will all come to nothing, being a father of young children, obviously i sincerely hope so.

None that aren't doing more important things. Things that have been scheduled for a long time before the comet was discovered. It's an unimportant comet that is passing through the field of view of STEREO B.
But maybe they'll be able to squeeze some time in at some point.

You've got a very good point, with the exception of the economy. I think it figures in with it. We all know that for the last for the last couple years under President Bush we've been spending alot of money, then under obama the spending went into overdrive. Then if I can find a clip of obama after the first meeting with Bush, I can still remember his face before and after, before he was all smiles, after he looked sick almost scared. And soon as he took office that's when the spending went into overdrive.

Yip pretending to be "bankrupt" to prepare for disaster.
