So let's see....what I got from that was:

"BLAH, BLAH, BLAH......It's all the Republicans fault

"BLAH,BLAH,BLAH......cut medicare

"BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.... increase unemployment insurance

"BLAH, BLAH, BLAH... we are a quadruple rating (what?)

"BLAH, BLAH, BLAH... sorry about Afghanistan

"BLAH, BLAH, BLAH... we can make these changes as soon as congress gets back

Um...great. What would I have liked to hear?

How about:

"We are a nation divided and I am sorry for my part and the part of my congress in this travesty. We will from this day, this moment, move forward as a country UNITED. We will not bicker at the expense of the American people and do what we promised before being sworn into office. The state of the economy CAN and WILL be addressed. There ARE things that can be done and WILL be done before the end of this year. It is time for the hard working Americans that make this country what it is to be acknoweldged; not used. I am the commander and chief of this great nation because you, the American people had confidence in me. Therefore, I commit to put YOUR needs above all others and fulfill my campaign promises to you."

Yah...we can wish. A humble president? Never.

Wonder if they'll end up shutting down the market today or tomorrow.

7 points triggers a shut down, no?

I have my series 7 and 63 (expired), but it's been awhile. Anyone know off the top?

He said it. I paused after I heard that as well.

Nice...but not true, is it...is it -looks at you in a parental way-

What he said is that there are some things that are not in our control that hits markets, natural disasters, etc...but otherwise, we are good...meaning you cannot predict everything, but generally speaking, the economy is slowly improving...

now, go write on the chalkboard "I will not spin things into nonsense" 400 times!

He said reform Medicare. Reform != Cut.

Medicare in its current form is unsustainable, it needs to be streamlined and made more efficient. That is all, coverage does not need to be cut and it won't be cut.

-wipes a tear-

Sorry, but ya, haven't laughed so hard until I cried in quite awhile.

If the POTUS said that, I would know he is flat out lying...lol...united...ya, that works.

-goes back into a fit of laughter-

He blamed the earthquakes and oil spills on the economy.

Oh look, someone who thinks that trickle-down economics works.

It doesn't, it never has. The corporations took the tax cuts and pocketed them. They did not use them for improvement.

Just graduated from Harvard?

Nope, been around long enough to know that it takes money to make money. Companies and businesses are founded on hard earned capital (it means money if you graduated from college) either saved or venture. When the state and feds start chinking away at it, it gets harder to re-invest and hire more people thus rich people don't need more taxes, they do need more loopholes to keep running and expand.

Tell you what - you contact the IRS and tell them you want to give all your earnings to them. They'll appreciate it. T'would be a generous offer on your part. Then post the results here and we will all applaud you! Otherwise GA.

Attitudes like that are the biggest problem with the country. They gave birth to the Tea Party, which was incredibly harmful.

Even despite the Tea Party the United States is still a more culturally homogenous nation than any other developed country. Pennsylvanians may call themselves Pennsylvanians and Texans may call themselves Texans, but at the end of the day they will say that they are Americans.

So the problem is not trickle down economics, it is the corporations who don't play ball? I can agree with that. BUT the problem is allowing corporations to get so big in the first place.

The one thing that would bring america back would be to kill the mega- corporations and bring back small business competition.

Corporations have the same protections as natural born people. the difference? corporations can live forever. Corporations are the tools of this American demise.
