Anyone have any guesses on what the last half hour before close will bring?

Sharp rise

more selling off

or stay about the same as it is now?

I just helped a guy who fainted on the street and it turns out he's going to be ok.

beyond that, nothing good out there

Major sell-offs in the Asian market predicted. Insiders say tomorrow will be worse, and we could see some serious finacial news coming in the late evening.

I tell ta folks, this could just about do us in. We need some real leaders, some real ideas, and a whole new Senate, Congress, President, hell we need a whole new everything in Washington.

Did he faint from the heat or the market?

I was just talking to my brother in law, who works at Morgan Stanley. He said that the mutual funds are going to be looking at the day's acitivity and the potential for a very big drop in the last half hour is still out there. As they see what their customers are ordering (buys and sells), if the sells are big, they will be dumping stocks to raise the cash needed for the sales. He didn't say if it was looking like it would, or would not, happen but it's something that can happen.

he's fasting and it's about 95 degrees outside. went down, helped him sit up and then he tried to stand and went down a second time. I ran and bought him ice water (to pour on himself since he won't drink it) and some other guy sat with him to ensure he waited for his wife and the ambulance.

Once I fasted on water only for a week ... stand up too fast and you'll go back down.

Is that an analogy/metaphor for the market??

I think there will be massive sell offs, but then that might mean a small rally. I can't see why there would be a rally though, so I'm going to say moderate sell offs.

Theres not going to be a rally. Its going to get worse.

Bit of a rally right now - DOW back under 400. Of course all that good could vanish in the last 30 mins.

There's about 30 minutes left until the US stock market closes.

At the moment, it looks like the stocks are making a little comeback, although still in the red at more than -3%. These last few minutes will be intense

Looks like the rally might over, it's dropping again.
This next half an hour should be interesting.

Yup, they're beginning to fall again. Dow is back below 11,000 and down over -500 points. Nasdaq and S&P are both down around -5.25%

About 20 minutes left before close

I'm pretty certain its going to close below 11,000, but don't worry, Greenspan says we can't ever default because we can just print more money
