In my opinion, which is unfortunately not practical to carry out in the real world, any country which's government is not entirely democratic and respectful of human rights, should not be allowed to export diamonds. Because they are in that case what they are - blood diamonds. Even if they were to be mined under fair circumstances, they still would help to fund a dictatorship, and that would make them just as much blood diamonds as when they are mined by slaves.
I don't buy diamonds, but this is in our hands, nobody else's. We're the ones who, u ltimately, pay for the industry to grow, including the industry in Zimbabwe.
