Are you talking about the people, or the military? The military is far from dead or powerless, as they are more powerful now than ever before, more so than most people are even aware. As for us citizens, yeah I would agree we are powerless against the MIC.

My friend you are lost. Do not think for one minute that WE THE PEOPLE are powerless. There will be a time to fight or flee versus our oppressors and that time is coming soon. All we need is ONE thing to incite a riot/revolution in this thee United States of America. I am waiting for that moment...Hell I WANT TO LEAD THAT MOMENT.

I have become annoyed at the current state of things as well. If the opportunity presents itself let's just say that you can expect to see me on the front lines of change.

I've seen this episode far too many times to feign interest in it. Rumors of America's demise have persisted since shortly after Paul Revere's famous ride. All of them have had one thing in common: they were incorrect. The sad thing (at least for the non-American portion of the world) is that, as economically hosed as the USA is, the rest of the world is worse off. The EU is teetering on full blown collapse and the subsequent chaos and anarchy, China's debt rating is balogna and cheese sandwiches compared to America's slight downgrade to T-bones, Russia has the huge black mark of having seen their entire empire crushed within most of our lifetimes, and countries like India and many of the Asian nations can't even feed the majority of their population without international aid.

America's situation SUCKS, but it only sucks when compared to what we have been. The straight A student just brought home an A-... Mom & Dad are a bit pissed, somebody may loose car key privaledges for a weekend, but ultimately the valedictorian spot at graduation is still assured.

Things might be rough but most of it is a HYPE. Every economy is intertwined and dependant upon each other globally and its not that easy to close the shop and call it a quit. Things will change gradually (for good or for bad) but definitely not overnight. It would take almost a decade before you can see the specualted changes to the IMF or the International Currency.

Real challenge is to turn things around for good during the next election(s) and do some
homework before voting for any candidate atleast for those who are in US. You can use
the internet for good purpose during that point to educate the others who might be lost
in their thoughts about picking the correct candidate that almost represents the public
and not the corporate interests.

Nope, not by a long shot. Do we have economic problems? Sure. Are we going to solve them? Unknown, I hope so but it's hard to tell just yet. Are ours worse than most other major countries in the world? Not really. Japan is still on its knees due to the earthquake/ tsunami, many European countries are struggling to survive, China is building a house of cards through idiotic measures like building vacant cities simply to inflate their GDP. This isn't a US problem, it's a world problem. At least most countries are forthright about their difficulties and have transparent accounting, but China is the biggest powderkeg of all due to their completely fabricated GDP and hidden accounting books.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Last I checked, the Brits were still civilized and a first world country and are not complaining.

If it's just more of the same then what? Nobody vote? Then you would have it just the way they want it because they would vote themselves in. TBH I stopped voting, because as the past has shown, they will put in office who they can control and it makes no difference what we vote, say, or do.

Laugh it up. It won't too long before hell breaks loose on every corner of this cursed planet. When it's revealed how the Chinese have been cooking their books just like the bankers over here(who all need to be jailed and executed in public), things will become really interesting
