A suspicious device was found on Interstate 15 near the Clairemont Mesa Boulevard exit in San Diego earlier. During about a 5 minute operation, roads
were closed until fire crews could detonate the device.

SAN DIEGO � Fire crews today detonated a suspicious package found on northbound Interstate 15 near the Clairemont Mesa Boulevard exit, San Diego
Fire-Rescue and California Highway Patrol officials said.

Around 8:40am this morning California Highway Patrol found the device. Roads were closed including the Clairemont Mesa Boulevard off ramp from the
northbound Interstate 15, as well as the freeway going both directions. A SigAlert was issued by the California Highway Patrol.
The detonation of the package did not emit much spark or smoke, however bomb sniffing dogs and x-ray machines were sent to investigate the package.
There are no reports yet on what the contents of the device were.
