Around 8:40am this morning California Highway Patrol found the device. Roads were closed including the Clairemont Mesa Boulevard off ramp from the northbound Interstate 15, as well as the freeway going both directions. A SigAlert was issued by the California Highway Patrol.

The detonation of the package did not emit much spark or smoke, however bomb sniffing dogs and x-ray machines were sent to investigate the package. There are no reports yet on what the contents of the device were.

Driving on the freeways of Southern California I see all type of material scattered either on the road surface or on the adjacent shoulders. I donnt recall however seeing the CHP doing anything about this debri. WhenCalTrans is responsible for collecting this rubbage. When the CHP responds you can bet it's serious.
