BBC Panorama documentary:

The lawyer for the two women, Claes Borgstrom, tries to say that Assange really did commit rape and that there is no conspiracy. However, at about 16:34 in this video, does the lawyer slip up and say "they have never met Julian Assange"?

Well let us see if he is guilty of rape. This one should actually be pretty easy to prove right?

For starters, what us rape?

rape

the unlawful compelling of a woman through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse.
2.
any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person.
3.
statutory rape.
4.
an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation: the rape of the countryside.
5.
Archaic . the act of seizing and carrying off by force.

verb (used with object)
6.
to force to have sexual intercourse.
7.

8.
to seize, take, or carry off by force.

So now the we have defined rape, let us take a look at what the two women have claimed.

The first woman, referred to in court as “Miss A.”, told police that her consensual encounter with Assange became violent when Assange pinned her to the bed as she attempted to reach for a condom. He then allegedly released her and agreed to wear the condom, but did something to it that caused it to rip, and continued to have sex.

Well according to "Miss A" the sex was consensual. So if the sex was consensual, there can not be a rape. Maybe we will have better luck with the next women. Let's take a peek.

The second woman, Miss W., also initially had consensual relations with Assange using a condom. But later, as they shared a bed, Assange allegedly began having sex with her while she was asleep — the basis of the rape allegation. According to the police report, “she felt it was too late” to halt the unprotected sex. “He [Assange] was already inside her and she let him continue. She couldn’t be bothered to tell him again. She had nagged about condoms all night.

This one is tricky, she consented to sex at first. After going to sleep Mr Assange decided to help himself to seconds. However after she woke up, she did not stop him and she did not say no at any time. She allowed him to continue, hence she consented.

Sorry but this case does not meet the definition of rape in my opinion.

Nice try... However we have already discovered that Rape in Sweden is a lot broader of a term than what other Western nations use.

Besides, its assange... Do we think women would willfully sleep with him?

For a person who demands accountability, he sure seems to shy away from it when it comes to his own.

I guess double standards really are the name of the game for him.
