Of course we can't be sure if this is true or how widespread the practice is if true. One possibility is that there's lots of hatred in South Korea against the Chinese so people make up these stories to try and demonize them.

Wasn't this their own news I cannot look again to see. But called the Seoultimes? I believe this because I watched a documentary about their obsession with aphrodisiacs and the lengths they go. The horror of rare bears with permanent tubes in them collecting bile, they said it is really painful and they live their entire life in a small cage where they cannot move for the bile to be collected, just one of the horrors that was on the TV special. I think we all know Asians (I know generalizing) will eat pretty much anything, the like baby birds cooked in the shell before it hatches for example, dogs, poison animals, insects of all kinds I don't think there is anything abhorrent to them as far as foods it seems that the worse it is the more of a "delicacy" it is considered.

I believe the article I posted says they pay the women to carry the fetus longer, they want them 5 months or so for soup, I can't look at it again to check...just can't.

I saw a discovery program that showed how they use a bacteria to make a steak from scraps, it is nit together by the bacteria and you would never know it had not started as a big fresh steak but little icky old scraps... totally legall in the USA they said and used by almost all stores to reuse old leftovers. More and more you cannot say what proteins they are using and calling it meat or beef or chicken. I think the Human animal has a bigger brain and will learn to choose not to eat just anything because it tastes good or because it may make you live another year or have a bigger wang!

Yes it does upset me, I am totally sure they will not care what kind of pain they cause while experiencing the joy of creating!

Chinese will harvest bile from black bears for medicinal use, use rhino horns as aphrodisiac, and eat tiger penis bones for virility, etc... This doesn't surprise me.

Your idea of ethics is defined entirely by your upbringing, you say its unnatural because you've been raised to think that way. Arguing ethics will last forever because no one is wrong, and everyone is correct, thats the entire basis of the mighty 'opinion'. Just like how a random kid born in the conservative south might grow up hating blacks and gays but one raised in a liberal environment might do the opposite, who is wrong or right in their perspective environments?

Look at how almost every poster here jumps up in a frenzy based on this delusional sense that women are desperately getting abortions only to sell their baby to be ground up for pill consumption.

If you read the articles, all of this is supposed and suspected, no facts have been revealed yet and at the most, the 'reporters' claim that when the hospital learns of a stillborn or aborted baby, they'll notify the medicine company only with a mother's consent.

So what is the difference between this and giving her child away to be a cadaver or having it's remains harvested for other use? Does a mother not have rights to her baby?

So many ATS posters are always too quick to jump the gun on sensationalized stories but rarely ever read the actual sources of information and end up formulating some fanatical story based on their view of the world.

This was one of the most ignorant things I've ever read on ATS. What constitutes as a sick society? by these measures, every society is sick because they do something that is wrong in a subjective manner.

They are purposely aborting their children, and waiting until the babies are old enough that they COULD survive with quality care. You don't think it's wrong that people are breeding people to be food? So they can have better sex? And breed more people?

Wow, you are spinning this story to the max. No where does it state that the mothers are aborting their babies on purpose to sell them. Read the article again and again and again until you understand it as you clearly do not. I even laid it out for you in my last post and you continue to spew lies to back your original claims.

You called an entire Chinese society/culture sick based on a practice you don't even understand because of facts that are unclear to even yourself. If you even bothered to do any research on a society that you've already decided was 'sick' you would know that unprotected sex is very 'popular' in China as men feel that the women is responsible and can get abortions as a form of birth control, there isn't a mad frenzy in China for women to get pregnant, abort the baby and get paid before the weekend so they can party and hope some random guys knock them up.
