Nazi link to ethics classes - Nile

www.heraldsun.com.au

SCHOOL ethics classes would be abolished at the end of the year under a bill introduced by Reverend Fred Nile, who claims their "dangerous" philosophy is linked to Nazism and communism.

Ethics classes were introduced by the former Labor government as an alternative to traditional scripture classes - angering Mr Nile and other religious conservatives.

So according to the Rev Fred Nile, the ethics classes are dangerous. Right... so how much more dangerous can they be compared to the religious classes?

Not much of a choice for the kids - brainwashed by the state or brainwashed by the church!

It seems that the familiar sensationalism that Nile uses, is a little out of date. Perhaps he's afraid that his flock of sheep will shrink unless they bury their heads in the good book.

Religion... meh... In this day and age... how can you take it seriously?

I am just waiting for the magical day when parents will stop chasing $$$ all the time and finally become responsible for their own children and actually sit down and teach them a few things about life rather than telling them to 'shut up' so they can watch more TV. Oh sorry, I forgot I live on Earth I must be idealistic expecting the impossible to happen.

Whew, rant complete!

I haven't read the article, just the summary, but I'm against abolishing any sort of class for any reason as long as nobody's being forced into it. In fact, if the class was openly promoting Naziism, I would still be for it. I'm always for freedom of speech.

I mean think about the irony of it all.

Religious organizations telling people about what is good and what is evil (then committing evil).

Governments trying to tell us about "ethics" when we all know factually that government workers are some of the most unethical people you will find anywhere.

Maybe the Earth's core is made out of Iron after all, because it sure is covered in irony up here top side!

I agree whole heartedly with your post, the problem we face is that many parents are not educated in matters that they should be such as worldwide politics, worldwide corruption, worldwide finance, wordlwide cultures, beliefs history e.t.c they find these subjects 'boring' they feel that their time would be more useful spent in front of the television watching shows featuring fictitious characters having their children with them. All part of the 'dumbing down' culture we are living in.

IMHO parents should spend at least half an hour a day on this site to get a better understanding of the world. Don't get me wrong this site does not have all the answers but its a bloody good place to start.

I agree with this line, but i think your wrong about religion, there is always room for religion and the peace and hope REAL religion can offer, however there should absolutely be no room for the evil men that run it.
