Well, good. Personally I don't much care what the exact cause is on day one; it's clearly snowballing past that and crashing into a plethora of
issues. What's important is that Israelis are realizing one very big, crucially important thing.
Their government has been working against their interests the entire time.
Argue back and forth however you want about who's "more at fault" in the conflict between Israel and Palestine. As many of us have demonstrated
countless times, that argument just goes around and around; it's designed to.
The one fact that cannot be shaken, no matter how hard someone tries, is that the Israeli government benefits from the conflict. Dead Jews win votes;
dead Arabs win votes, too. Less security means more money into the government's pockets from the US. More money from the US to spend on the military,
consolidating power and authority while generating kickbacks from arms companies.
Their government has a vested interest in keeping the Israeli people battered, bloodied, frightened and divided. And whatever your position on
whatever in that region, this rising protest is a good thing.
