Money has nothing to do with survival... as a matter of fact, money is the one thing that will cause you to not survive!

Survival, true survival, is being able to do what you need with what you have, The poorest in the US have something to work with. Can you tend land? Then you could sharecrop for those who do own land. Can you start a fire? Bic lighters not required. Can you identify foodstuffs that are wild that you can eat? If not, then learn. Knowledge is free, especially at ATS.

Survival is not about who can get the fanciest firearms, or store the most canned food, or live the farthest from the cities. It is about self-sufficiency. And the poor I know (discounting the entitlement-driven lazy welfare-milkers) are also some of the most self-sufficient people I know. Those who have all that food in cans but are unable to build a fire will still be hungry. Most people who have spent money on firearms will be the victim of firearm violence. Most people who have large tracts of getaway land will find themselves unable to survive once they get there, if they get there.

Those who have the will, the guts, the determination, and the knowledge will be the survivors. If the economy collapses, no one will have any money. That evens the playing field for the poor, and in many ways skews it in their favor. The poor already know how to survive with precious little.
