Did man walk much earlier than thought? Open spaces existed in 'Cradle of Humanity' throughout human evolution, say scientists

* East African region previously thought to have been heavily forested until 2million years ago
* Experts thought our ancestors only came down from the trees and walked upright after forests receded

The possibility that man walked much earlier than previously thought has been raised after a study of ancient habitats.

Scientists now believe that grassy open spaces - where human predecessors would have been forced to walk - have dominated the East African landscape throughout the whole of human evolution.

Early man on the move: I guess you could say it leads up to the conclusion; Neanderthals DNA link to modern man to humans to have been in Asia years earlier than thought previously.

The question still remains of how early hominins used their time between the open and closed habitats.

Sadly the last time British scientists made a shattering claim with the proof to back it up... was when they found some 40,000 year old human foot prints in a quarry in Mexico... evidence of the oldest human in the new world.,..

they had everything right... shape size stride patterns even carbon dating to back them up.... proof that humans were in the new world 30,000 years before prevailing theory believed...

but that pissed off the scientific community and those fearing the lose of grants and credentials capitulated and altered their finding to fit more conservative models...

Science isn't what it used to be... publish or parish... and making sure you don't rock the boat

Well said! Exactly why I see fit as it's a conspiracy. Feeling like we'll never be allowed to learn the truth.

Well, humans didn't come from early monkey ancestors, so this settles it for me. If you don't believe the myth, then you don't have to constantly be surprised to hear, "Man was around when these beasts were still on earth."

occasionally we get glimmers of the truth but they are quickly buried under proper Anthropological method...

Don't get me started on Chaco Canyon... that Anthropological method is 180 degrees counter to the myths and legends of my people...

But we cant tell them that story... if we did then the tourist wouldn't want to come visit...
So rather then truth you get warm and fluffy... not quite an outright lie... just omission of certain less pleasant facts is all... Like how the Anasazi were cannibals and used to eat people... oh when that little tidbit came out... I fell bad about what happened to that researcher once they got through with him...
