from reading this article (and sorry if its been posted search is NOT my frend never works for me) it seems like this is one scary bill that has yet to pass the house but its passed some form of a committe and i think there point of "its for the children" is a little far off i dont think too many ats memebers are the kind that like kiddie stuff and whatnot and also had no idea the transporting people over state lines thing was from 1910 gonna try to follw this one and see what it does to our net anonymity

I recall the TV shows that attempted to capture the reality of East Germany and the STASI Secret Police in the months after the Wall came down and Eastern Europe began to open up. One of the stories that stuck with me the strongest was a storeroom they showed, somewhere in STASI offices in East Berlin. This store room contained shelf units running floor to ceiling of jars and paper bags. Inside these jars and bags were personal items from individual East German citizens. They stored all of this on each individual living in that area so the dogs had scent items to begin hunting down and capturing anyone trying to escape the GDR into West Germany. Apparently, this was so likely, they figured storing scents of innocent people was worthwhile.

What was at least as memorable as this storeroom of innocents was the reaction of the west. As one might imagine (or these days..maybe not) the reaction was horror and self congradulatory comments about how we freed those poor people from such tyranny. Don't we just deserve a cookie for all that work?

Whats the difference? 1989 Easter Berlin, in that STASI storeroom vs the ISP computer servers holding VAST quantities of electronic 'scent' items on innocent people..just in case? The times change..the technology changes...but Tyranny is still Tyranny.

It was bound to happen sooner or later, I have been predicting this coming for months now.. The Censorship of the internet. is our final GREAT freedom lost.

I'm still not sure if this is being used as a front, or if they are actually trying to go after people exploiting children. Hell, I can't tell anymore. The more they keep us under their thumb, the easier it is for them to do what they want.

Bottom line: Say goodbye to anonymity.

To be honest I think a good portion of people are already being watched on the internet. I bet most people on this website are being watched 24/7, we probably have a thick folder in a file cabinet somewhere.

But yeah I think this is definitely a front to get rid of internet anonymity and monitor what people are talking about, who is a potential "cyber terrorist", who is spreading "anti-government propaganda", and all of that fun Orwellian stuff.

Frightening infringement possibility.

And to be honest, not everyone here... hell, probably only a handful at best, are being 'monitored' by the government. I know I'm not that important, and neither is almost anyone else here. I don't think we exactly instill fear.

Would they like to keep tabs on everyone? Probably, but at the moments there are still way too many ways to remain anonymous online.

Unless something like this bill is passed. Then we'll see what happens.

When these plans are brought to you by the same people who covered up the real cause of 9/11 and are involved in massive cases of child abuse with secret state sponsored mind control programs you do need to know you are being lied to yet again. There are already ways to expose child abuse networks.

Having such centralised power within a system that is already hopelessly corrupt is going to result in a massive travesty of freedom, justice and a fair go. If you run a business then expect all your trade secrets and tenders to be exposed to the corporate competition that is in the loop. Don't expect a chance to run for office until the system has some dirt on you to stop you doing the decent thing. The list with how such information can be abused is endless.

Yes there are a lot of problems in cyberspace, you do not solve them by creating bigger problems.

it wouldnt suprise me when i used to downlode torrents all the time i knoticed that comcast was throtteling my bandwith so i put an end to that really quickly and havent gone back since i just get sooo tired of every one getting away with crazy laws "for the children" sake

this kind of thing was always inevitable, but at the same time, its the biggest chance of a uprising, people may actually join together to speak if this came through, and a lot of people at that.
but at the end of the day, its just making official everything they are already doing, i know this is no consolation, but its true.

Just looks like more of the same thing. Unfortunately as the decent people learn how to secure their computers so do the predators.
