Murdoch Foam Pie Attacker Gets Six Weeks

uk.news.yahoo.com

The comedian who threw a foam pie at Rupert Murdoch as the News Corp boss was giving evidence to MPs has been sentenced to six weeks in prison.

Jonathan May-Bowles , who is also known by his stage name Jonny Marbles, was told by a judge at Westminster Magistrates' Court he would have to serve at least half his sentence.

May-Bowles was also fined £250 and ordered to pay £250 costs.

The comedian, dressed casually in a checked shirt, remained impassive as his sentence was passed. He pleaded guilty last week to assault and causing harassment, alarm or distress.

This is completely disgusting and ridiculous in my opnion. Serious crimes go unpunished everyday but something as trivial as this gets a man sent to prison on us the taxpayers money.

I am actually speechless that this warrants a prison sentance.

It is of note that this is the same judge who cleared Sergeant Delroy Smellie of assault on Nicola Fisher at the G20 protests. (After refusing to hear Fishers testimony).

The justice system in this country is a joke and they are just as corrupt as the police have shown to be over this whole debacle... pfft

All the guy did is throw a paper plate of shaving foam at his shoulder..Murdoch's wife then jumped up and struck in him in the face while he was being restrained, you can clearly hear the slap on the video. Maybe he should have her arrested for assault.

No physical harm was done except for Murdoch's mrs attacking the pie slinger (very bad pie slinger as it only got his jacket!).

Absolute joke that he was given 6 weeks instead of a fine and/or community service at a time when the prisons are overcrowded

So... the pie thrower is going to serve a sentence in jail....

and Murdoch remains the free Lord of his Empire.....

Ah... Justice!... How I miss thee.

Here's a Article on why he did it, if anyone's interested.

If you're of sound mind, you might quite reasonably ask what possessed me to smuggle a shaving-foam pie into Portcullis House and throw it at (though, alas, not into) the face of one of the world's richest and most powerful men. I didn't do it because I wanted more Twitter followers. Simply put, I did it for all the people who couldn't.

I wonder what will happen when people get tired to throw pies and decide to throw other things.

Maybe tomatoes would be a good choice?

im hardly 'feverously fingering away' and to me this just highlights in a nutshell the failings of the justice system in the UK so its not just about 'a pie man'. The real criminals walk about like nothing has happened and get away scot free

but it doesnt affect you so why should you care??

What???

Really????

So. Let me get this straight. Pharmaceutical companies can kill or otherwise harm lots of people and no-one serves jail time. Insurance companies can refuse to pay for peoples' legitimate illnesses, despite paying out the rear for coverage. No-one? Goes to jail? Banks can destroy peoples lives and... no-one serves jail time. Mortgage companies can employ deceptive practices and no-one... serves jail time.

Not that I'm surprised, but masses should be flooding the streets demanding that justice be consistent.
